EV and hybrid owners are invited to the 2nd annual OPTIMA Unplugged Powered by Clarios and Presented by DCE. Set to kick off on Thursday, Feb. 1, the event expects the largest gathering of off-road electric vehicle enthusiasts ever, which will convene during the 2024 Progressive King of the Hammers Powered by OPTIMA Batteries in Johnson Valley, California.
This year, OPTIMA Unplugged expands to a two-day event where participants can register their EVs or HEVs to experience the most iconic trails in Johnson Valley and the all-new dedicated camping area, the OPTIMA Oasis at The Forty. The tour, set up as a poker run and led by OPTIMA Batteries ambassadors, offers an entry-level off-road adventure on Thursday, Feb. 1, for beginner drivers with limited off-road experience with no vehicle modifications required. A more advanced ride on Friday, Feb. 2, is for those looking for a bit more of a challenge.
To help make this event a success for all participants, OPTIMA will provide 10 Level 2 chargers and four Level 3 chargers, all powered by hydrogen supplied by industry experts at Renewable Innovations. The entire OPTIMA Oasis will also be powered by Renewable Innovations’ zero-carbon green renewable energy via solar and hydrogen as OPTIMA and Clarios continue to push for innovation in the off-road community.
Both brands hope to move the needle toward remote off-road events featuring EVs and HEVs alongside their ICE counterparts. Charging at OPTIMA Oasis is available free of charge for any EV attending the 2024 Progressive King of the Hammers Powered by OPTIMA Batteries.
The 2024 Progressive King of the Hammers Powered by OPTIMA Batteries is the biggest and toughest off-road race week in the United States. With more than six races on the schedule, it has grown to attract over 100,000 spectators from the off-road and racing community who enjoy the open desert with their friends and family.
Events take place in Johnson Valley, California, a remote dry lakebed that, during race week, turns into one of the world’s largest temporary cities dubbed “Hammertown.” The city is complete with organized and signed streets, food trucks, shopping, concerts and much more.
