When factory dome lights fall short during off-grid adventures, GoFluxx’s versatile, tri-color LED strips provide the perfect solution for illuminating cargo areas, drawers, and gullwing compartments.
One of the first things we realized while living out of the Land Cruiser was that the factory interior dome lights weren’t cutting it.
Digging through gear in the rear cargo area or ARB drawers after dark often meant dealing with deep shadows and frustrating visibility—especially when the drawers were extended or we were accessing items through the truck’s Emuwing gullwing panels.
To improve night-time usability, Al Catalos of Sponsored By Wifey recommended installing some low-profile LED light strips. That’s where GoFluxx came in.
The company offers compact, IP67-rated LED strips that are ultra-bright, dimmable, and built to handle both indoor and outdoor use.
We chose their 60cm Tri-Color (White/Red/Amber) Dimming LED Strip for overhead lighting at the rear hatch, and two 30cm versions for illumination over the gullwing compartments. Longer 90cm strips are available, perfect for pickup truck beds and mounting on awnings.
We found the addition of the GoFluxx lights to be immensely useful. To change colors, simply tap the power button on each unit.
To adjust brightness, hold the button down—the light will cycle from its brightest setting to the lowest, and back again.
At its brightest setting, the light is visible even in broad daylight, which helps cut through harsh shadows inside the vehicle when the sun is blazing.
On the dimmest setting, the soft glow helps preserve your night-adjusted vision—ideal for low-key campsite use when you don’t want to light up the entire area.
The strips mount using 3M polyethylene foam-backed adhesive or built-in lugs that accept screws. We’re currently relying on the adhesive tape, but plan to use tapping screws for a more permanent installation once final placement is decided.
Al wired the lights directly to the Land Cruiser’s auxiliary battery, though GoFluxx also offers USB-C and 12V cigarette lighter power options. The system is flexible—multiple strips can be linked and run off a single switch using an optional power splitter.
Each strip has its own integrated dimmer/power button, but these can be bypassed with a main switch. Dimming can also be controlled through systems like Redarc that regulate current draw.
While we’re using the strips to light up the LC100’s cargo area, their usefulness extends far beyond SUV interiors.
The GoFluxx light strips are ideal for camper under-cabinet setups, pickup bed lighting, enclosed trailers, or anywhere weather-resistant, compact area lighting is needed.
