Jay “Lightning” Tilles (0s):
Holman, I have a question for you. What the fuck is in your driveway? Where did you get that beast?
Sean P. Holman (7s):
So my mom came by today to, to drop my oldest off. She goes, what? They didn’t have a smaller truck.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (12s):
That is one seriously badass. G-M-C-A-T four. It is an a T four, isn’t it? It’s
Sean P. Holman (18s):
An a t four XAEV edition. I noticed
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (21s):
That’s the AAV on the Wheel. That’s the full tilt. But I sprinted past it. ’cause I was almost late getting here as I often am almost. But almost, I stopped dead in my tracks long enough to see the a EV logos on the center caps. And then I backed up and I go, this is an a T four. Why does he have this in his driveway?
Sean P. Holman (37s):
It’s, it’s a duramax at T four X. So basically the, the frontier went away today after three months and almost 4,000 miles.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (45s):
So, sad day.
Sean P. Holman (46s):
It is a sad day, but like, I was sad to see it go, but it just, so,
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (50s):
But but your tears have been mopped up with a g
Sean P. Holman (52s):
Well, it just, it just so happens that GMC had called me and said, Hey, we’ve got a new 2024 Sierra 2,504 Wheel Drive crew cab, a T four X AV edition in the media fleet. We’ve got some openings coming up and the dates matched with when they were picking up the frontier. So they said, well, do you wanna just, we’ll just swap it and take the frontier away and replace it with this.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1m 13s):
And he said, let me think about this. let me get back to you. ’cause I just, I Oh wait, I’ll take it.
Sean P. Holman (1m 18s):
So yeah, we should, we should definitely talk about the GMC. But yes, a sad day that the, the frontier went away. So I was looking at the, the specs I averaged, ’cause I used it as a daily driver. You, you took it to the desert. I took it to Vegas for shot show, a couple other trips, road trips. So my best fuel economy was over 21 miles per gallon on a tank. And this is all hand calculated, not what the car tells you. And my average across almost 4,000 miles, right at 4,000 miles was s a little over 17 miles per gallon. 70
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1m 49s):
Miles per in the frontier. In the frontier. That’s really admirable.
Sean P. Holman (1m 52s):
Yeah. For driving You know short trips to taking the girls to school and all that kinda
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1m 56s):
Stuff. So, and you hot rod it more than you say you do.
Sean P. Holman (1m 60s):
I, no, it was fine. I, I will say this. I recently had a chance to drive.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (2m 4s):
I’m not saying that you abused it. What I’m saying is No, no, no. You’re into the pedal. No, not really. No. Yeah,
Sean P. Holman (2m 9s):
I, I’m, I’m, I’m pretty mellow. Okay. No, I mean, if I’m in the 3 92, it’s sort of like the devil on your shoulder. But the rest of the time, I’m, I’m pretty mellow, especially if I have my kids in the car and all that stuff, and we’re going to school and all that. But the thing is, I drove a com competing vehicle, which we have a review coming up on the particular vehicle. And the one thing that struck me about all of the mid-size trucks that I’ve driven lately, and the frontier is none of them have seats that are as comfortable I can get in the frontier and I can instantly feel comfortable. And I’ve got some You know, some lower back stuff. And so to me, seat comfort is always huge priority when I’m testing vehicles and some vehicles look like they have the world’s best seats and you sit in them and they suck, or you get a 22 way powers and you can never find anything comfortable, I get in the zero gravity seats the frontier, and instantly feel comfortable.
Sean P. Holman (3m 1s):
And I have been in a few of the new vehicles, the Colorado, the Canyon, the new Tacoma, the new Ford Ranger. None of ’em have seats that compare, in my opinion, as comfortable as the frontier. Even
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (3m 14s):
The ones with the hydraulics in them. I
Sean P. Holman (3m 16s):
Have not been in the TRD proceeds, no. Oh, okay. Okay. That truck, I’m gonna be sad to see. Go. Hopefully it won’t be the last time that a frontier graces the driveway. But for now, we, we say farewell. But the good news is if you wanna get yourself a Nissan frontier, you can do that by heading down to your local Nissan dealership. And you can go to Nissan usa dot com. We can build in price. Seriously, having spent that much time with the frontier, love it. Perfect size, great power, quiet, went everywhere I wanted to go. Took it out to the desert several times, did some off-roading in it, all the things. And it, it was, it was great for the price point. That one was at 46 k basically loaded. It’s hard to find a better value. And I’ll say this, a lot of the trucks are getting really expensive in the You know, mid-size 55, 60, 65 plus.
Sean P. Holman (4m 2s):
And everything’s getting expensive. Tons of tech. I mean, it just feels like there’s so much, if you’re looking for an honest simple truck that can just get it and drive and do truck things in Frontier’s the way to go, in my opinion. And not just because of Nissan support the show, but it’s a great truck. So sad to see it go. But we will still honor frontier spotting. So if you see a frontier out on the road and you wanna send us an email, Lightning may or may not send you a sticker.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (4m 23s):
No, I have, I actually, like, I sent out a batch of, I don’t know, a dozen All right. Sets of stickers about four or five days ago. So if you see something in the mail from banks, it’s truck Show Podcast stuff,
Sean P. Holman (4m 37s):
Or, or unless you slid into your dms and you see something in the mail from banks, it may have been something that you got a truck Show Podcast discount on. No.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (4m 43s):
Well, that is true. Yes. I have hooked up about, let’s see, in the last 30 days, maybe 10 or 12 of you guys.
Sean P. Holman (4m 50s):
And which products are our listeners buying the most from banks?
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (4m 53s):
Well, that’s interesting. So I actually had a guy with a five nine and I hooked him up with a twin Ram. That’s the, oh wow. That’s the big spender. That’s a, that’s a spiny part. It’s cast, cast aluminum intake manifold. We had three or four of the monster rams for, I think I had a guy with a a 13 ram, A 17 Ram and a 22 Ram. And I forgot the other one, man. I feel like at least half a dozen pedal monsters in ID dash sets. So it’s been kind of a, an interesting array of parts that you guys have been interested. So if you want a, you want the hookup, hit me up at LBC Lightning on the gram. Alright,
Sean P. Holman (5m 28s):
Before we move on, you guys have a new product that you are rejuvenating at banks, it’s a popular older product that you’ve updated.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (5m 36s):
Yeah, as a matter of fact, thanks for the lead in my friend. If you’ve got a Jeep four liter, 91 to 96 or 2000 to 2006, banks already had the industry’s best header system, but they are even better now.
Sean P. Holman (5m 50s):
And are they in stock?
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (5m 52s):
Yes, in stock.
Sean P. Holman (5m 53s):
Alright,
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (5m 53s):
So I guess you brought this up because You know we just got a huge shipment of them and they are better than before. And they’re, it, they used to be like, listen, here’s
Sean P. Holman (6m 1s):
The problem polished.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (6m 1s):
And now they’re
Sean P. Holman (6m 2s):
E everybody with a four liter has probably by this point, cracked their headers. The stock ones crack all the time. So if you need a better header, head over to Banks Power dot com and they got a better header for your Jeep. That’s
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (6m 13s):
A, that’s a good slogan. Thank. you need a better
Sean P. Holman (6m 16s):
Header. That’s a, that’s a freebie for you.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (6m 18s):
No, I think I’ll pay you in beer. All
Sean P. Holman (6m 19s):
Right. I like that. Before we move on, truck Show Podcast dot com, head over to our featured products page. That’s where we’re putting all the promos, discount codes and all that. So there’s a lot of stuff listed on there. We’ve got a partnership, I think we’ve mentioned it recently with EGR as well. So if you’re looking for a roll track or a Fender flares or the new V-S-L-L-E-D lighting system that they offer, does
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (6m 40s):
It bum you out that you can’t put those on your 3 92?
Sean P. Holman (6m 43s):
It kind of does. It kind of does, because they’re pretty cool. I know they, they work for jails and jks, but the cow hide on a 3 92 because the hood is, so they’re kind
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (6m 51s):
Of like ditch lights, but not ditch lights.
Sean P. Holman (6m 53s):
But in the cow, they’re, they’re super cool. Anyway, go to EGRU s a to check ’em out. But we’re doing a deal on, on our website for an affiliate program. So if you guys are interested in purchasing any of that stuff, again, head to truck Show Podcast dot com and click on our featured products page. And the
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (7m 8s):
Last thing, before we hit the Intro Holman, I want you to tell me what this piece of metal is Right here that I’m hand you. What do you think? This is Right here that I’m handing you. It’s about a little bigger than a deck of cards. What do you think that is? That bracket looking thing?
Sean P. Holman (7m 24s):
This would appear to be some sort of bracket that covers a multi plug from being disconnected. Am I right? Yes, you are. Go me.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (7m 35s):
I’ve totally gone over the deep end with Okay. Trying to lock everyone out of my truck.
Sean P. Holman (7m 39s):
Okay. So what is this protecting
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (7m 41s):
That is, that is going over the neutral release.
Sean P. Holman (7m 46s):
Oh, for the shifter? Yes. Yes. So they can’t put it
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (7m 48s):
Not in the shifter in the TRX, in the, in the 1500, the Gen five 15 hundreds. So the release for to put The truck in neutral, you don’t need a key in many trucks. You, you
Sean P. Holman (7m 59s):
Push your key down. Yeah, there, there’s a pull up. The Jeeps are the same way. There’s little door and you pull a, a nellon
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (8m 3s):
Strap. So this has a little panel to the left of the steering Wheel and you drop it and there’s a little like bright orange strap. Yeah. Piece of nylon
Sean P. Holman (8m 10s):
Something
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (8m 11s):
On mine. And you pull it and you can put The truck in, in neutral. In neutral. Right. Well, that bracket covers it up and I’m gonna put safety screws in there, like perfect. A safety torque. The torques. Yeah, exactly.
Sean P. Holman (8m 19s):
So, so this, do they have any for the 3 92 for the Jeeps?
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (8m 22s):
I think they do. Oh,
Sean P. Holman (8m 23s):
I should check it out. What s it says it
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (8m 25s):
Right there.
Sean P. Holman (8m 26s):
Destroyer 1320. Yep.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (8m 28s):
And it’s nicely made.
Sean P. Holman (8m 30s):
All right, well,
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (8m 30s):
40 bucks. Alright, that deal. That’s not a freebie. Talking
Sean P. Holman (8m 34s):
About saving your truck. One of our,
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (8m 36s):
Wait, you didn’t ask me when I’m gonna get my window in my back glass right? mid-April.
Sean P. Holman (8m 42s):
Well,
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (8m 43s):
Midap Lightning is truck less from till mid-April. No,
Sean P. Holman (8m 46s):
You’re not, you Did you see that
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (8m 47s):
Piece of that? I’m driving right now.
Sean P. Holman (8m 49s):
I did. I haven’t been outside. No, I have no idea.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (8m 51s):
A 2012 RAM with no air conditioning.
Sean P. Holman (8m 53s):
No. You, you love that truck?
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (8m 54s):
Not this
Sean P. Holman (8m 54s):
One. The gauge. Just bounce and stuff too.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (8m 57s):
Not this one. This one sucks. Donkey balls. All right,
Sean P. Holman (8m 59s):
Well then you are, it’s right up your alley. Yeah. So this box came from one of our listeners, rich Holdaway as a present to you because he felt also bad about your TRX being stolen and he bought you this.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (9m 14s):
Oh geez. Oh no, I’m scared. I mean, I love Rich. Oh
Sean P. Holman (9m 16s):
No, no, don’t scared.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (9m 17s):
Oh, this
Sean P. Holman (9m 17s):
Is heavy. Don’t be scared.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (9m 19s):
Why is it so heavy? Don’t be scared. It is. This a tiny little box. All right. Opening it up. And this is a, I see a wiring diagram on the top.
Sean P. Holman (9m 26s):
A key fob, activated battery disconnect.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (9m 29s):
A key fob activated battery disconnect. Yes. It whoa, it sure as heck is. Wow. That’s super cool, rich. I appreciate that. I don’t know if this will work with my push button starter kill thing that Compus star already installed, but I really
Sean P. Holman (9m 49s):
Appreciate that. Well, I think appreciate I was, I could probably, I might be able to use something like that to separate my house battery from the rest of the electronics on the Jeep.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (9m 56s):
Well, you know what, hold on a second. I’m gonna call my buddy Josh Woody.
Sean P. Holman (9m 60s):
This, this means we’ll have four key fobs. It’s gonna be awesome.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (10m 3s):
I’m gonna call my buddy Josh Woody over at, it’s funny that you say that. I already have four key fobs. I have three Comus star key fobs. They’re all different. I have the weatherproof one, the one with the O ole, and then I have the very small fob that’s just proximity based and has the auto or the remote start. And then I have my factory key, right? My OE key fob four key fobs. Now I’m not gonna use them all. I have to choose which one I like best. He’s
Sean P. Holman (10m 26s):
Like, we also have your key fob for your igla.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (10m 30s):
I don’t use that,
Sean P. Holman (10m 31s):
But you have one don.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (10m 32s):
Don’t use that. They told me not not to.
Sean P. Holman (10m 34s):
So I don’t you. But you aren’t gonna use all of your Compu star either. You still have the regular key fob that comes in that shiny Amazon crap cover.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (10m 40s):
I’m gonna take that one and I’m gonna put it in my compu star Faraday box that goes in my glove box. So I’m gonna keep my factory key in my truck. Whoa. Isn’t that crazy? So when I, when I unlock my truck, let’s
Sean P. Holman (10m 52s):
Save it for later. Okay. This is a, this, I feel like this is a completely different show. It, it is because this is too confusing. Like, I don’t even want to go for a ride in your truck because I’m afraid something is just going to make it so it’s inoperable. You
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (11m 4s):
Should have seen the guys laughing at me today. You know Eric Ryder. He, I was tr I was unlocking my truck and he was watching me unlock it. He goes, he goes, that’s the craziest thing I’ve ever seen. You have to do all that to start your truck. I go, I I’m not getting this thing taken. Oh
Sean P. Holman (11m 16s):
My God. You should, you should hear how loud it is when You listen, your memory’s not goes off. Your memory’s not that good right now. You will. And it’s not getting better when you will trip. What happens when You forget that It’s up, down, up, down, left, right, left right. Not A-B-B-A-I
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (11m 30s):
Won’t drive you.
Sean P. Holman (11m 31s):
I’ll just sit there cry. Maybe that’s what you do. So that, that way when You get dementia, yeah, once you forget your car password, that’s it. You’re, you’re out. You can only drive as long as you, as long as you have that. Alright, back to the massive GMC that is cracking my driveway currently. Hold on.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (11m 47s):
Theresa and Jason are outside. Oh,
Sean P. Holman (11m 48s):
They can wait a second. All 8,350 pounds of it or, or whatever it happens to be, which is around there. What do you think the, the sticker price is on that bad boy?
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (11m 60s):
1 0 7.
Sean P. Holman (12m 1s):
All right. And this is a base price of 81 800.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (12m 5s):
Okay.
Sean P. Holman (12m 6s):
The sterling metallic color is $495 upcharge. It includes a 3 42 rear axle ratio, a gross vehicle weight rating of 11,350 pounds. And this is a durmax with the 10 speed Allison, the AV package, which includes the AV front and rear stamped steel bumpers, which
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (12m 28s):
Look great.
Sean P. Holman (12m 29s):
Gloss black door handles the black tailgate accent. So it’s two-tone, 18 inch a v salt of black gloss aluminum wheels. A matching 18 inch spare AAV stamps, steel skid plates. A v embroidered headrest AV branded floor liners. Does
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (12m 43s):
It have the baseball seats, the baseball stitched seats?
Sean P. Holman (12m 45s):
No. No. These are, these are all black. Okay. These are all black. Comes out to
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (12m 49s):
2024 G-M-C-A-T four
Sean P. Holman (12m 53s):
XAV
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (12m 54s):
Edition. XAEV edition. Okay. How much would it cost
Sean P. Holman (13m 0s):
Including the $1,895 destination charge? That would be a cool $103,075.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (13m 9s):
Holy nuts.
Sean P. Holman (13m 11s):
Dude, that’s a lot of coin. That’s a lot of money. I mean, you get in that thing and you’re like, yeah, this is, this is, I
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (13m 17s):
Feel like we could move to Alabama and buy a house cheaper.
Sean P. Holman (13m 19s):
Dude, I, this is definitely a mortgage for some people. don don’t know how people could afford it. I could certainly not afford this truck, but that’s not gonna keep me from enjoying driving it all week and potentially taking it somewhere. So yeah, it’s, it’s a nice piece.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (13m 32s):
How long are we going to hold Theresa and Jason outside the door
Sean P. Holman (13m 36s):
Until the residual on the GMC drops so that we can afford it? No. Should we let them in? No.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (13m 41s):
After the Intro
Recording (13m 43s):
The truck show, we’re going to show you what we know. We’re gonna answer What? The truck because truck rides with The truck show. We have the lifted, we have the lowered end. Everything in between. We’ll talk about trucks that run on diesel and the ones that run on gasoline. The truck show. The truck show. The truck show. Whoa Whoa. It’s The truck show with your hosts Lightning and Holman. Alright,
Sean P. Holman (14m 22s):
Lightning, we got two of our favorite guests back in the studio, but the first time in this studio. So we’ve got Jason and Theresa Contreras from Baja Forged and the 47 other things that Theresa’s doing. In fact, I was on her her podcast earlier today, so I I’ve seen you twice. I know. In
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (14m 41s):
One day. Yes. All over
Sean P. Holman (14m 42s):
SoCal and Jay wasn’t invited.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (14m 44s):
Yeah, no thanks. He was Thanks. He invited. I was invited once or twice or three times. Yeah.
Sean P. Holman (14m 51s):
And in all three, in all three times he decided that he couldn’t make it. So,
Theresa Contreras (14m 56s):
I mean, he’s just a busy guy, right?
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (14m 58s):
Yeah. I mean, it was tough to get up to. Well this guy works from his house over here, Holman. So he is like, he doesn’t have much of a schedule. He just sits around eating bon bonds all day.
Theresa Contreras (15m 6s):
I know. That’s us too. you know
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (15m 7s):
What I’m saying? Totally.
Theresa Contreras (15m 8s):
We’re on the same schedule. Like him
Sean P. Holman (15m 10s):
Being Yeah. Being awesome on being your own boss allows me to do that. Which by the way, it’s crazy
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (15m 14s):
For you Theresa and Jason. You guys live in Egypt, so you
Sean P. Holman (15m 18s):
Have to take No, you
Theresa Contreras (15m 19s):
Have to, that’s
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (15m 21s):
Two planes. You have to go offroading through the Sahara. Yes. And then to come across,
Sean P. Holman (15m 24s):
You have Offroading to get to their house. So you do. Or you should put this way if you don’t go offroad and get your house or do something wrong.
Theresa Contreras (15m 31s):
Yeah, yeah, exactly.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (15m 32s):
So, no, you guys think we’re kidding though. But they,
Sean P. Holman (15m 34s):
Jason said
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (15m 36s):
Live in Johnson Valley. Yep. Which is where they do King of the Hammers. This is in the nowhere.
Sean P. Holman (15m 42s):
It is is literally, I don’t know if it’s nowhere.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (15m 44s):
It’s nowhere adjacent.
Sean P. Holman (15m 45s):
You have neighbors. We
Theresa Contreras (15m 46s):
We’re a, it’s like a retirement community almost.
Sean P. Holman (15m 49s):
Okay, let me ask you this,
Theresa Contreras (15m 51s):
But our neighbors are like our same age.
Sean P. Holman (15m 52s):
How far away is the nearest grocery store?
Theresa Contreras (15m 55s):
What kind of grocery store? Is it like the mini bar? No,
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (15m 59s):
No, no.
Sean P. Holman (15m 60s):
The biggest one that 30
Theresa Contreras (16m 1s):
Miles. Yeah. Yeah.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (16m 1s):
Where’s the, the nearest Costco?
Theresa Contreras (16m 4s):
Victorville,
Sean P. Holman (16m 5s):
Right?
Theresa Contreras (16m 5s):
Yeah. 45 miles. Yeah. Yeah.
Sean P. Holman (16m 6s):
Victorville or Palm Spring. So listen
Theresa Contreras (16m 8s):
This Yeah. 45 miles. Yeah. So
Sean P. Holman (16m 10s):
You’re, you’re in the, you’re in the middle. All right, before we get started, let’s, let’s do their jingle, because otherwise we’ll forget. And then we will have to do it in post. It’ll sound good. All
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (16m 19s):
Everyone shut up. Here we go. Oh,
5 (16m 21s):
Yo. The truck show. Who dis Who dis Who the hell is this a truck show interview you don’t wanna miss? We talked to Top Dogs in the industry. How’d you blow? W how’d you come to be? Who? Dis who? Dis Truck Show
Theresa Contreras (16m 38s):
You. know it.
Sean P. Holman (16m 40s):
Alright, so this is your first time in the pod shed.
Theresa Contreras (16m 45s):
It’s amazing.
Sean P. Holman (16m 46s):
Very nice. Very nice. Thank you been waiting to get out here to see it. Love it. I’m glad you guys came out of, did you have to use your passport? Did it get stamped on your way over here?
Theresa Contreras (16m 55s):
Yeah,
Sean P. Holman (16m 56s):
Pretty much. There’s like, Hey, miles
Theresa Contreras (16m 59s):
Traveled a couple countries. There’s
Sean P. Holman (17m 0s):
Like, Hey, can I, can I come on the show sometime? I’m like, well, I’m not picking you up at the airport.
Theresa Contreras (17m 6s):
Alright,
Sean P. Holman (17m 6s):
So it’s good. It’s good to have you guys here. I mean, look, look at that. We got, you got the tv, we got your Baja floor pictures up
Theresa Contreras (17m 12s):
There. It it’s pretty cool. So legit man. I’m think we
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (17m 15s):
Are too legit to quit. If you had heard
Sean P. Holman (17m 18s):
Or, or we’re too deep in this to quit one of the two.
Theresa Contreras (17m 22s):
Well, welcome to being an entrepreneur. Yep. Yep. That’s what it is. Huh?
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (17m 26s):
Maybe we should have played the entrepreneur jingle for I. don, you still can, can we, should we do that? Okay. We’re just kidding. I know. Here we go. What
Theresa Contreras (17m 34s):
Does
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (17m 35s):
Entrepreneur,
Theresa Contreras (17m 37s):
What does it
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (17m 38s):
Take be entrepreneur.
Intro (17m 40s):
Quit. And don’t let anyone
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (17m 43s):
Tell
5 (17m 43s):
You you can
Intro (17m 46s):
Debt and don’t look back. Don’t worry.
Sean P. Holman (17m 54s):
Alright, so here’s the deal. If I
Theresa Contreras (17m 55s):
Love Omar, he does such great team.
Sean P. Holman (17m 57s):
Well But, that might’ve been someone else. But. that might have been Jay. Yeah. Maybe might’ve been me. Here’s the thing. I think don don’t say this on the show, but I’m Do more than half. when You have, when You have people in studio and you encourage Lightning to push all of his buttons, then you get multiple jingles. That’s how that works.
Theresa Contreras (18m 16s):
That’s, yep. So all night we’re gonna be listening to Jingles. Jingles
Sean P. Holman (18m 19s):
Cools. Okay. What’s next? Do just go down, go through ’em all, man. You, you’ve got a lot going on. All right. So last time I saw you was just a couple months ago at CMA where we were judging for TMI and then you actually had a boot this year. Yes. And you gave me like, I look like a, a homeless person who just got a donation. I had beanies and socks and I scarves and I had all sorts of stuff and, and I wasn’t cold in Vegas this year, so I have to Thank you. But I, but I think that had to do with one of your sponsors and how you got your booth. That
Theresa Contreras (18m 51s):
Was fantastic. Oh, that was great. I was like, where are we going with this? Yeah. So it was really awesome. So for, for CIMA this year, real Deal revolution. We had a booth last year. We had one again this year we did it as the she shed in Vegas. So that was really cool. But we did it with a couple other different organizations. So the Jesse Combs Foundation and with Girl Gang Garage as well. We
Sean P. Holman (19m 17s):
Saw our friend Bogey was there. Yes. And we saw Fastly and Jane was there. Yeah. Yep. There were a few other ladies that we know. And of course Jesse was near and dear to your heart. You guys were best friends and we’ve talked about that before. And you, do you help with the, with the foundation or how does that work? I know you’ve got real deal and all that, but Jesse Combs Foundation is a separate entity. It
Theresa Contreras (19m 36s):
Sure is. Yeah. So they have their foundation that they’re doing mostly like the scholarships and stuff. So with Real Deal, we do more of the hands-on workshops. And so we’ve been working together with them to work with some of their scholarship recipients to have them come in and help with workshops and stuff like that as well. So we’re, we’re kind of integrating, helping to mentor them, helping them to get out and then mentor other people too. So they’re integrated in the community better. But talking about the, the home that, that part, it was really awesome this year, about halfway into the year we actually had Dickies Workwear reach out to us. And so they’ve been a supporter of Real Deal.
Theresa Contreras (20m 17s):
And they’ve been, they’ve been monetarily, they’ve given us donations, they have helped us, they’ve
Sean P. Holman (20m 23s):
Donated to my family. ’cause we all have new beanies. I was about 30 minutes into the SEMA show and I started and I saw her and she’s like, you want some swag? I’m like, yes. And all of a sudden it is like, here’s a beanie for you, one for your wife. You have two girls, here’s your socks. Like
Theresa Contreras (20m 37s):
Yes. And that’s what it was. You’re, you got the girls too. So it was all about that. So was awesome. We wanted to make sure that you were all hooked up and, and it was really cool that Dickies has been supporting us like that. Yeah. And we have some cool events coming up this year and we’re really excited. I mean that’s this last year kind of kind of like what you were talking about. Like basically I was like, okay, I’m gonna give about 50% of my time to Baja Forged. Yeah. And then the other 50% to Real Deal You know. And that You know 2023 was all about going out to different events, making sure I was doing at least one a year to get things out there. And it You know, it really
Sean P. Holman (21m 14s):
Showed. Now I don’t know don don’t know if this applies to you because you’ve been an entrepreneur and your own boss for a while now. You grew up with a family business and you guys took it on and all that. Yeah, I’m new to this. Yeah. And I feel like 2023 was a blur. And I’m pretty sure that the same feeling I have of 23 is as if I was drinking the entire year. And don don’t remember everything. ’cause I blacked out except I didn’t drink. So I’m like, how did I get, I feel like I’m in the hangover phase now, but I never had the enjoyment of drinking. Like when does that part come? Well, oh, that’s a long pause. That was a really long pause. And
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (21m 48s):
It doesn’t, wow. It
Jason (21m 49s):
Doesn’t, that’s about, it doesn’t about five to 10 years in. Oh boy. Maybe.
Sean P. Holman (21m 53s):
Okay. Well I’m one, I got one year in. Yeah. So
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (21m 56s):
Wait, you gave us your split 50% Bob Fortune 50% real deal. Yeah. Jason, are you 70 30? Are you 95 5? Like what?
Theresa Contreras (22m 4s):
What’s your
Jason (22m 5s):
I
Sean P. Holman (22m 5s):
Mean, he gives 110 all the time. Yeah, yeah.
Jason (22m 8s):
No, for the most part. True. I’m just Baja Forest. I do help her a little bit with the real deal stuff, but it’s You know, loading up, unloading that kind of stuff.
Sean P. Holman (22m 16s):
99 1 is what I’m hearing. There you go. There
Jason (22m 17s):
You go. That’s about, that’s about it. And I like to stay in my cave out in the desert away from people for the most part. So
Sean P. Holman (22m 24s):
It’s, he does, he does. It’s yet here you are having a, a, a party for KH. He came to another,
Theresa Contreras (22m 29s):
He came to another
Sean P. Holman (22m 30s):
Cave. I
Jason (22m 30s):
Pretty much have just been driving all day long today. Yeah. I think when I hit driveway, I’m about, I’m about three 20 so far today.
Sean P. Holman (22m 37s):
Oh man. Oh my God.
Jason (22m 38s):
We still gotta go back. So,
Sean P. Holman (22m 39s):
Ugh.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (22m 40s):
That’s a long drive. So, but you, you
Sean P. Holman (22m 41s):
Fortunately, this podcast is only about 20 minutes, so
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (22m 44s):
You’re
Sean P. Holman (22m 45s):
Sweet. It won’t be late at all when You leave
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (22m 46s):
Fantasy. So you’re, you are having a party. That’s what you, you were talking
Sean P. Holman (22m 51s):
About. Well, the whole thing goes, Jason doesn’t like Jason doesn’t like people. Yeah. There’s a party happening. That
Jason (22m 55s):
One
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (22m 56s):
Jason’s built himself.
Sean P. Holman (22m 58s):
That was Jason hitting the bell by the way. Some
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (23m 0s):
Kind of, he’s built himself like a hut in the back with a lock on. Yes. On the inside so he can lock himself. Does
Sean P. Holman (23m 5s):
It in, oh, let me guess. Does it have padded walls like mine does? ’cause that’s sort of, of like,
Jason (23m 10s):
What this is not, not yet. We should. Yeah. That’s gonna work
Sean P. Holman (23m 12s):
Towards, so when I built this, actually that’s
Theresa Contreras (23m 13s):
A great idea
Sean P. Holman (23m 14s):
When I, yeah. Right. So when I built this, we put up all the sound deadening and You know we got the tv, it’s got the You know we don’t have AC here ’cause we live at the beach. Yeah. But we have to have climate control in here. ’cause four people in here, especially summertime, gets, it starts turning into like a Turkish bath or something like that. So to avoid that, You know I had to, so, and then I’ve got my refrigerator. ’cause one of our listeners donated the Dr. Pepper fridge. Rad. So like, I cannot put that in the pod. She Right, of course. So we’re sitting in my, in, in my kitchen and one of my friends says, dude, you’re just gonna sit out there in the AC and watch baseball all the time, aren’t you? And my wife’s standing right there. And I looked at him like, what? That’s it, you’re, you’re off the island. I’m like, whatcha doing? Tell her that. Don’t give away my secrets. And Denise looks at me and she goes, I didn’t even think about that.
Sean P. Holman (23m 56s):
I’m like, damn it. So needless to say he has not been invited back and, but yes. We
Theresa Contreras (24m 2s):
Won’t give away any of your secrets.
Sean P. Holman (24m 3s):
Just like Jason in his, in his hut, I sort of we’re not doing the podcast. I I may be found out here relaxing. Yeah.
Theresa Contreras (24m 10s):
He actually admitted the other day that he liked people.
Jason (24m 14s):
You keep turning it into that. That’s not what I said. Please explain it then.
Sean P. Holman (24m 17s):
I said, I think I heard tolerates
Jason (24m 19s):
Tolerates people. It was kind of, the discussion was about
Sean P. Holman (24m 23s):
Not vehemently opposed to them.
Jason (24m 25s):
Yeah. For the sometimes, sometimes it, it was about working with people to kind of teach them the right way to be out in the desert cleaning up after themselves. ’cause it’s, Hey,
Sean P. Holman (24m 35s):
People are pigs
Jason (24m 36s):
So free for Yeah. It’s free for all out there. That was more of my discussion, like helping with cleanups and You know and, and teaching people the proper and get on on the trails and stuff. It’s
Sean P. Holman (24m 46s):
More of that not I like that. Yeah. He could do that. And still not like people. Yeah,
Theresa Contreras (24m 50s):
He can. Yeah. Yeah. He enjoys having, okay, nine o’clock he’ll be done. Yeah. If you look, he does the Irish goodbye. So people are like, well, where’re Jason going? I’m like, he’s, he’s gone. He’s asleep. Poof. I, don, go on. Yeah. But for the most part, I mean it’s, we’re we’re around people now all the time that we just enjoy.
Sean P. Holman (25m 10s):
Is it weird doing what we’re doing? You moved away to be around people more.
Jason (25m 13s):
Well, they come to visit us now. We just like, you don’t have to go anyone.
Theresa Contreras (25m 17s):
We have people all the time come up and visit. Like, it’s, it’s really cool.
Sean P. Holman (25m 20s):
So if lighting and I just show up in your long driveway, you wouldn’t shoot at us on our way up. Yes.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (25m 24s):
And we, we look over and we, we see, oh, Jason’s gone.
Sean P. Holman (25m 30s):
That’s, that’s Jason on his back 40. I just launching things and do the air
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (25m 36s):
Like a magician where he just boom and he’s gone.
Jason (25m 38s):
I said, if you can get by Cooter the, the Mastiff at the j Yeah.
Sean P. Holman (25m 41s):
You’re more than welcome. But I knew, I knew Cooter as a puppy. Let, we’re cool. Cooter would be like, oh, I know you, you’re chill. Yeah. And that’s him. Cooter’s amazing. That’s a rad dog right there. He is. I he was all little and wrinkly and stuff. Oh, he, he
Theresa Contreras (25m 52s):
Was just big and wrinkly. Now
Sean P. Holman (25m 53s):
I know
Theresa Contreras (25m 54s):
Dog. He, he’s still a cuddle, but
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (25m 57s):
Stepped all over my, that’s
Sean P. Holman (25m 58s):
What she said. Yeah, that’s fine. That’s fine. So when was the last time you saw lighting out in the desert? Not this one. Oh. Also out in the desert.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (26m 8s):
It hasn’t been long enough. Which good’s?
Theresa Contreras (26m 10s):
Yeah. No, when we went to the banks. Oh,
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (26m 12s):
Friends and family day. Yeah. Yeah. Thanks. Yeah. Yeah. That was a fun event. Yeah. Was Thank you for coming
Theresa Contreras (26m 17s):
Up during summer August or
Sean P. Holman (26m 19s):
Something like that? It was hot. It was hot as ball. Yeah. The ice cream was melting in my hands.
Theresa Contreras (26m 22s):
Yeah. Yeah. I think it was right after Sturgis. Yeah.
Sean P. Holman (26m 24s):
They had a Handel’s ice cream and, and they’ve got the one called the Blue monster, which is like blue cookie monster. Yeah. And it was so dang hot that it was melting all over my hand and my entire hand turned blue and I was from the food coloring and there’s nothing I could do about it. And so then I was interviewing people with a blue hand and I’m just like, they’re like, where’s your hands? It’s the ice cream. Yeah. Where Papa Papa Smurf. Yeah.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (26m 48s):
So let’s talk about Baja Forge for a moment and let’s recap. I know we’ve done this before. Yeah. But it’s been many, many episodes. Yeah.
Sean P. Holman (26m 55s):
What was, and the company’s evolved since then too. Yes. So what
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (26m 57s):
Was the impetus? Why did you get started and what do you make?
Theresa Contreras (27m 1s):
Yeah. Why did we get started and
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (27m 3s):
Who’s the we
Theresa Contreras (27m 4s):
Well, essentially, I guess I started designing my raptor and that was in 2011. So I had a a, a Gen one Ford Raptor with a V eight in it. I basically was like six
Sean P. Holman (27m 18s):
Two truck, not five four. It
Theresa Contreras (27m 19s):
Was a six two.
Sean P. Holman (27m 20s):
Yes. Just get that clear. Yes. And a Whipple
Theresa Contreras (27m 22s):
Super. The charger with a Whipple on it. Yeah. Thank, you and Jason supported me. That was one of the first things that like he really supported me on with like having my own complete design on it. I had to have 20 inch wheels. Yes. Yes. I ran 20 on it You know still with 37
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (27m 37s):
Inch tires. How
Sean P. Holman (27m 38s):
Jerry You know you’re ahead of lightning’s
Theresa Contreras (27m 39s):
Time. I Right, I know You know.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (27m 41s):
We were rolling, we were rolling dubs
Sean P. Holman (27m 43s):
Together.
Theresa Contreras (27m 43s):
Right, right. It was everything. It was like the design of it. I wanted to design all the bumpers, the sidebars, all of that. So when that came around, that was on the cover of Truck and magazine. Yeah. Kind of like what you were talking about with the, were you talking about it in San Felipe? I was in Cabo. I was with Dan Ward and Max. Yep. And, and we were literally doing a sunset post and I was on the beach and literally one of my tires was like completely gone in the sand. Oh. I was like, what just happened? We couldn’t see it. It was on the other
Sean P. Holman (28m 18s):
Side. But by the way, if you wanna hear the other end of the story, listen to, because
Theresa Contreras (28m 21s):
The water comes in, who
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (28m 22s):
Are the other two people that were with you
Sean P. Holman (28m 24s):
From a magazine, from truck. But if you wanna hear the other end of the story, go to the high octane Hustle. Hustle and then you can hear the other side of the story.
Theresa Contreras (28m 31s):
But basically I was in Cabo tip of Mexico right down there on the peninsula out there with a, a couple guys and stuff. And truck
Sean P. Holman (28m 39s):
Vehicles in quick sand was sinking.
Theresa Contreras (28m 41s):
My truck was sinking. It literally that 37 inch tire was like fully in the sand. So
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (28m 46s):
We’re not going to tell anyone how you got it out. They have to go to another podcast to get the end of the story.
Sean P. Holman (28m 52s):
No, no, I think that’s
Theresa Contreras (28m 53s):
Fair. No, that’s his basically we, we just weren’t paying attention. We were on the other side. They were taking photos, we were far away. All of a sudden we come up to it and I was like, I just told those guys, I was like, get in the back of The truck now. Start digging. So they started digging. But the thing is, is that water was just coming in. So the tides coming in. I
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (29m 11s):
Feel like I just watched this in Pismo Beach two weeks ago. When now those trucks got rolled over. Yes. Went out to see it happens
Theresa Contreras (29m 16s):
Within
Sean P. Holman (29m 16s):
Minutes. The truck, all those trailers.
Theresa Contreras (29m 18s):
Yeah. It happens within minutes. I actually had someone come and try to pull me out. That wasn’t gonna be enough. They literally, I was just dig, keep digging, keep digging, keep digging. So they finally got enough out. I literally had about five guys in the back of my truck jumping up and down and letting all the air out of the tire. So it finally just grabbed and gained momentum and finally got out. It took quite a while.
Sean P. Holman (29m 46s):
Which answer? Which one of your, which one of your a-hole friends was taking the sand from digging and building a sand castle instead of helping? And did you get lots of those little like beach hermit crabs that kept going down? You kept digging them up and they’d go down a little bit
Theresa Contreras (29m 59s):
More. What? I’m not gonna lie, I’m a Mexican too, so we just work hard and they were all
Sean P. Holman (30m 3s):
Mexican, so we
Theresa Contreras (30m 4s):
Just were like, get to work now under me. Yeah. Pretty much that whole trip is like, that’s
Sean P. Holman (30m 10s):
A whole story. What was your gnarliest stuck that you ever gotten in, in any of your vehicles? What was like the worst one we’re like, ah, crap, how are we gonna get outta this one?
Theresa Contreras (30m 18s):
That was pretty bad. What else?
Sean P. Holman (30m 19s):
Moab this year. Oh, Bronco.
Theresa Contreras (30m 21s):
Oh, well, I mean it wasn’t so,
Sean P. Holman (30m 26s):
I mean it wasn’t ideal. Helped
Theresa Contreras (30m 28s):
Revenge. Yeah. It wasn’t ideal, but we got out of it. Yeah. It wasn’t no, that moment of me being
Sean P. Holman (30m 33s):
Stucks stuck. Unstuck. Otherwise you’d be sitting on the trail still. So Yes, you got unstuck. Yeah. Think of all the things you wouldn’t have been able to do. You wouldn’t have had Christmas, you wouldn’t have, you wouldn’t have enjoyed the New year. You wouldn’t have done three podcasts today with Fast Le and Jane. You’d still be in Moab.
Theresa Contreras (30m 48s):
I guess I’ve been stuck a lot. The one on the beach. I’m telling the one on the beach was pretty bad. Well, that’s the,
Sean P. Holman (30m 53s):
The thing you worry about that is
Theresa Contreras (30m 54s):
The sand part.
Sean P. Holman (30m 55s):
Yeah. Because once it literally, yeah, once you’re below the hubs and you can’t get out. Oh no. Like now it’s sea water getting in and
Theresa Contreras (31m 0s):
37 inch tires like, like the rear axle. Yeah. Almost buried. Like, I was like, everyone’s
Sean P. Holman (31m 7s):
Digging. I’ve been on several photo shoots in my magazine career where it was like, I, I eventually got to the point where when we did ocean shots like Pismo or Oregon, whenever we did a shot and we kind of put it out a little bit far to get that, that effect. Yeah. I always made sure two people were there, one person with the photographer to watch the vehicle. ’cause the photographer’s not, they’re not looking. No. Shoot,
Theresa Contreras (31m 27s):
Shoot, shoot, shoot. I’ve never done that before. So I wasn’t paying attention either. I didn’t think about it. And
Sean P. Holman (31m 30s):
It’s like that person, it’s like, sorry, Photoshop over. I’m running out there to go rescue this thing
Theresa Contreras (31m 35s):
And we’re in Mexico. Yeah. You know when You get stuck in Mexico, you’re like, oh shit.
Sean P. Holman (31m 39s):
Yeah. This isn’t,
Theresa Contreras (31m 40s):
You’re like, I’m literally in the middle of nowhere
Sean P. Holman (31m 42s):
And you’re not like in Tijuana where you’re going. Well, if it disappears, like just walk over the border, you’re I’m
Theresa Contreras (31m 46s):
1100 miles from the border. Well,
Sean P. Holman (31m 48s):
That’s the thing. People realize how long the peninsula is, like how long Baja California is. Like it’s thousand plus miles.
Theresa Contreras (31m 54s):
Yeah. Yeah. When
Sean P. Holman (31m 55s):
You’re down there,
Theresa Contreras (31m 56s):
It’s so, so then driving back from Cabo to San Dimas it, I did it in 23 hours. It’s
Sean P. Holman (32m 2s):
Pretty
Theresa Contreras (32m 2s):
Good. Yeah, it’s pretty
Sean P. Holman (32m 4s):
Good. How many tickets with
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (32m 5s):
With with three flat tires and sand in the bed. No.
Theresa Contreras (32m 8s):
Drove right back. Right. Okay. All
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (32m 9s):
Good. So wait, when when You were pulling it out Yeah. Of the sand of that quicksand, were you worried about blowing through the transmission or breaking stuff?
Sean P. Holman (32m 18s):
No, she was worried about her thing. Washing out to the ocean.
Theresa Contreras (32m 21s):
Yeah. That was probably the worst. No,
Sean P. Holman (32m 22s):
The raptor’s gonna go sleep with the whales. Yeah.
Theresa Contreras (32m 25s):
No, I let all the air out, but we had bead locks on it, so I wasn’t really too worried about or really low.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (32m 31s):
So wait, we have to go back to Baja Forged.
Theresa Contreras (32m 34s):
Okay. Yeah. Oh,
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (32m 35s):
We would just glossed
Sean P. Holman (32m 36s):
Right to story. She’s a storyteller.
Theresa Contreras (32m 38s):
Yeah. So that, so that vehicle essentially that truck in, in that photo is very epic. It was on the cover of Truckin. It was like the first vehicle that I really put myself into that was like fully my design because I had been custom painting vehicles forever. You know and doing things like that with, it was everyone else’s designs. You know, I just You know you came to me and told me I want flames. Cool. I’ll put flames on there. I never really put myself and my own design into anything. And this was the first thing in Jason. So
Sean P. Holman (33m 6s):
You put a self portrait of your face on the hood? I
Theresa Contreras (33m 8s):
Did, yeah. It was fully, yeah.
Sean P. Holman (33m 10s):
Actually if you, if You know Theresa’s work, she has a very specific design aesthetic. Yeah. And you can usually go, oh yeah, I know, I know about that. Well, how do you describe that? My opinion. And maybe she likes more like earthy tones, like browns and greens and beiges. But then she likes to have a little splash of color to brighten it up. So think of like a Do you like that? Yeah. A dusty forest with some sunshine coming through the trees. Love that. Like that is right. Yeah. And so if you look at her work, there’s always sort of, there’s like a richness but muted and then there’s always a splash of like color to just bring it all alive and tied in and give it a little bit of soul.
Theresa Contreras (33m 46s):
Yeah. Earth tones definitely. Because I am inspired. That’s, that’s what inspires me is just being out in the desert, being You know outdoors and things like that. So I think you nailed it. It’s funny that you say that because, so we have the BM BMW R nine T that Jesse and I built and that one
Sean P. Holman (34m 2s):
And that bike still today holds together like, like that bike was done a long time ago. Yeah. It’s what, it’s probably what, nine or 10 years old now? Or is it more than that? What year is that done? No, 15. 15. 15. Yeah. Okay. So coming up on 10 years almost. Oh God. Yeah. I got a song. But when You, see, when You see that bike, that design still looks good today. Thank you. It’s really timeless. Like you don’t go by that. And I remember seeing a SEMA this year ’cause you guys had it in the Yeah, the booth. In the booth. Yeah. And I didn’t realize it was that bike at first. I’m like, oh sweet. And I’m like, oh duh, I know this bike. But was it in that setting with all these new shiny things redone a hundred times? Yeah. It’s, it held up, it held its own there. I thought that was cool.
Theresa Contreras (34m 36s):
Thank you. Yeah. And that it’s a timeless design. I like to do things that are like that that hold up. But like that bike to me was like, it was all about looking out at like a, a dry lake bed or something. And then having the golden sunset appear You know. And so You know, but then there’s still the, the motorcycle itself. Yeah. Like it’s all the rawness of it. I love hot rods and I love You know machined parts and things like that. So,
Sean P. Holman (34m 58s):
Well correct me if I’m wrong because the, to your point Yeah. The, the earth tones and these, these machine parts and these cold You know, like these cold metal. But you always seem to like, like a little bit of rich leather in there. Like Oh yeah. A dark piece of You know saddle color or brown to kind of add like an organic test to it. So like when You look at your stuff. Yeah. It’s really beautiful. These machine pieces anodizing this nice paint job. Yeah. But then even like I was it the Hyundai or the Kia that you did that had like the leather bags on the outside of it? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Like to me that’s that’s totally you right? Yeah. Like it’s, it’s, I just have to have a piece of something organic on the outside to kind of weave it all together to make it feel like it has a little bit of
Theresa Contreras (35m 38s):
Soul. It’s Yeah, it’s that warmth. Yeah. In and that really is a big part of it too. So it it’s all of those little Thank you. Yeah, no I think you, I think you nailed it. I think it’s all those touches that really bring it in. And so we’ll show you pictures of the Bronco that we’re working on right now. ’cause it’s exactly like that. You see this interior and the, it’s like a distress leather.
Sean P. Holman (35m 57s):
I saw your, it’s like gorgeous. I saw photos on, was it Facebook or Instagram with the interior pulled apart that you were working on the other day?
Theresa Contreras (36m 4s):
Yes. My raptor was the first thing I did. But it was 10 years ago. Yeah, yeah, exactly. More than that. 11 20 11.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (36m 10s):
So wait, the raptor had skulls and, and tear graphics on it with a checkerboard?
Sean P. Holman (36m 14s):
No, no, no, no. It was ghost flames. Ghost
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (36m 17s):
Flames. And
Sean P. Holman (36m 17s):
It was actually tan. It was actually Angelo. It
Theresa Contreras (36m 19s):
Actually had,
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (36m 20s):
And you bolted a lot of chrome. You had
Theresa Contreras (36m 23s):
It actually had tire tread on it.
Sean P. Holman (36m 24s):
Everything was Angelo.
Theresa Contreras (36m 25s):
That’s what was on it. I did tire treads. I did. So I like muted tones. I like tone, ONT tone things. So it was gray with another gray, but it reflected differently in the sunlight. So then you look at it one time and you think, oh, it’s just one color. But then if you look at it and you walk by it, then it changes color. Right? Because then the sun reflects,
Sean P. Holman (36m 46s):
You have kind of a reverse fade on it too. ’cause it went from one color, the front to
Theresa Contreras (36m 49s):
The back. Yes. So I have a lot of subtlety with it. So that from far away you really don’t notice. They look very like,
Sean P. Holman (36m 57s):
It’s almost like one of
Theresa Contreras (36m 58s):
Unassuming, I guess maybe that’s a better word,
Sean P. Holman (37m 0s):
Unassuming. You have to spend time with it in different, like Yes. The, if you looked at it in the, in the shop with the fluorescent lights versus looking at it outside in the sunlight. Totally different. I, I like
Theresa Contreras (37m 9s):
Completely different. I want people to, to want to look more like, oh, spend some time with it that look different, something happened and then keep walking around it and then keep finding all those things. It’s like Easter eggs, You know, like going around and kind of seeing all those things.
Sean P. Holman (37m 24s):
Or the wieners. I draw Jay’s office.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (37m 26s):
I, so I, here’s how much I love Easter eggs. I, I don’t mind when Holman comes to my office and draws, he’ll put a wiener under a desk. Like, and so like I’ll be plugging in my computer like a year later and I look up and I’m like, oh, that’s creative. Like it’s a wiener.
Sean P. Holman (37m 41s):
Or I try and change, like he hand writes like all the stuff whiteboard. So I try and change those letters really subtly into the wieners. Yeah.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (37m 49s):
Yes. He’s an artist. Okay. Don’t, don’t judge him.
Theresa Contreras (37m 51s):
Okay. No, it’s, it’s
Sean P. Holman (37m 52s):
Great.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (37m 53s):
Great.
Sean P. Holman (37m 54s):
I’m
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (37m 56s):
Okay. So they do
Sean P. Holman (37m 56s):
Call me de Caso. So
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (37m 58s):
De casso
Sean P. Holman (37m 59s):
Caso.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (38m 0s):
So then at one time you had a raptor. Is that what I heard? I
Theresa Contreras (38m 3s):
Know, right?
Sean P. Holman (38m 4s):
No, no. One time she had a whip supercharger
Theresa Contreras (38m 6s):
In 2011. I know I, and I could talk about that truck forever ’cause it did. I I You know I think for all of us, especially out there like vehicles changed your life. You know. And that was some, that was one that really did it for me. When I put all of that into it and Jason fully supported me, he was like, no, do exactly what you wanna do. He sold his truck so I could go buy my truck. You know.
Sean P. Holman (38m 27s):
I know what a guy. Yeah, but not, not very many years after that. He got a really nice motorcycle though, so. Oh
Theresa Contreras (38m 31s):
No. He gets a lot of Hold on,
Sean P. Holman (38m 33s):
Hold on, on. I think he did. Okay, hold on.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (38m 35s):
You you’d be quiet for a second Jason. So, so Jason, what
Sean P. Holman (38m 38s):
Was, just mute her mic so that way Yeah, the
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (38m 41s):
Funny part. Watch this. I’m gonna mute. She’s gonna talk to you. Still here. You still here? She’s gonna come through all the other mic.
Sean P. Holman (38m 45s):
She’s laughing right now. Yeah.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (38m 46s):
See, watch, watch your
Sean P. Holman (38m 47s):
Fox. She’s trying not to laugh. I know. Okay. I
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (38m 51s):
Really do have her mute. And you can hear so
Theresa Contreras (38m 53s):
Listen, know, I can feel it.
Sean P. Holman (38m 55s):
So Jason,
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (38m 56s):
How, tell me about that moment, which is like, this is what I wanna build and, and, and that moment when You said I’ll help you get there.
Jason (39m 3s):
I think we were both excited about The truck. So I mean getting the wrap. ’cause it was when they first came out. So I think we were both kind of excited about doing it, I guess. And, and it was our design because obviously with the family dynamics of the whole shop thing, it was kind of something that we were pushing and doing something that we wanted in our style and what we wanted to go forward with. It just kind of led to where we’re at now. It was, it was the beginning of it
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (39m 24s):
But that you said, I we don’t have the capital to buy this and do it the way we want. I’m gonna off my truck.
Jason (39m 30s):
Oh yeah, it was, yeah, I was just kind of, yeah, just to get into the, into the Raptor You know. Then from there it was like, I mean we’re still fortunate. We’ve been in the industry long enough that You know we get a lot of people that helped us out.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (39m 40s):
But I mean that speaks volumes. Your belief in her You know Oh for gonna pull off.
Jason (39m 44s):
She’s always backed me for everything too though. So it’s, that’s the way we You know. That’s why way they roll. That’s why we made it for 30 years or whatever it is.
Sean P. Holman (39m 49s):
Has it really been 30 years? Pretty close. Oh my god. What’s it like being married in the automotive world for that long?
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (39m 58s):
Well how is it, why would it be any different?
Sean P. Holman (40m 0s):
Because you’re always, like, if you’re, you’re building stuff, there’s always a spotlight on a project or what you’re doing and there’s a gazillion people in the mix and you’re always like if, like how hard is it? ’cause you’re building things, you’re taking it to shows, you’re supporting things. Yeah. One person’s doing one thing, one’s doing the other. And you’re, how do you like make it work when there’s so much I don? It’s not chaos, but it’s just busyness. Like Yeah. It’s hard to both be in the same industry. Yeah.
Jason (40m 22s):
Well I think for me it’s easy ’cause don don’t like being around people. Yeah. Okay. So we
Sean P. Holman (40m 26s):
Establish
Jason (40m 27s):
That. Yeah. I sent her out to go do things.
Sean P. Holman (40m 28s):
So
Theresa Contreras (40m 28s):
I’m the one that do does every I like that. Yeah. You send me out
Sean P. Holman (40m 32s):
And
Jason (40m 32s):
She goes and she’s the spokesperson. And I never, I never realized I stay in my cave. That’s what it was. I stay in my cave.
Sean P. Holman (40m 38s):
It’s quiet. And that’s why Jason got coer because he gets lonely. Yeah. And so now when he sends you out, he, he, he’s not alone because, because you’re, you we oldest is we have
Jason (40m 48s):
A whole farm going on there. So it’s all, it’s a little bit of everything.
Sean P. Holman (40m 52s):
And and your oldest is in the Coast Guard? He is. Yeah. And so he’s gone. Right. And so Coer and, and Jason just hang out in the cab old days. I respect that. Yeah.
Jason (41m 2s):
Hey, we Coer and Roscoe, I’m, I’m building up the whole Dukes of Hazard Clan. It’s Dukes
Sean P. Holman (41m 7s):
Of Hazard that’s, I gotta meet Rosco got these names from.
Theresa Contreras (41m 10s):
So anyone’s wondering, I don’t know where everyone’s head’s going, what they think, think of that. But You know
Sean P. Holman (41m 15s):
I went to the Dukes of Hazard, but that’s me. Good. Good. I’m
Theresa Contreras (41m 18s):
Glad. I’m glad.
Sean P. Holman (41m 20s):
Alright, so fast forward to, to getting Raptor done one year after the Raptor was done. Yeah.
Theresa Contreras (41m 26s):
Like, well, okay. Well and that didn’t even, I mean basically the Raptor was done. It got accolades. We started doing things like Tanner faus vehicle. Yeah. So it was on the cover of Truckin. He, he, he reached out and he was like, Hey You know we wanna do this. There was multiple people after that that were reaching out to us. And I was like, cool. Other people want this style. Like they like it. Yeah. So we started You know, we still did what we did too, but we started doing more things that were in that style. Well
Sean P. Holman (41m 52s):
Then you had corporate builds start trickling in and you guys did quite a few corporate builds for a while too.
Theresa Contreras (41m 57s):
Definitely. Yeah.
Sean P. Holman (41m 58s):
Ford Kia, right? Yep,
Theresa Contreras (41m 60s):
Yep, yep. And we
Sean P. Holman (42m 0s):
Still do Hyundai. Yeah, exactly. You guys just had one at the Elliot Auto Show this year, right? What did we, was it one of your, was it one of your older ones that they brought? Because I saw,
Theresa Contreras (42m 9s):
I think, I think Kia might have had some stuff there. Yeah, we did the rebel rally one this year. Yep. So we’ve been outfitting those and we actually got to train the girls this year too. That’s cool. So that’s something we’re getting into as well. Yeah. Is doing that too, is not just having more of a full experience offering, doing event services at our ranch. Yeah. You know. So we do the
Sean P. Holman (42m 30s):
Build. Oh good. Good to know. Yeah. I’ll, I’ll keep that in mind.
Theresa Contreras (42m 33s):
Oh yeah, yeah. So we, so so like for, for for Kia? Yeah we did, we basically brought them out for the day. We took them out. We trained with the girls and stuff. We came back to the ranch. We did, we hosted, hosted them and stuff. So we had You know food there and everything like that. Catering. Yeah. We’ll actually be doing Shelby Hall’s event too coming up. Nice. So yeah. So we’re doing things like that. They brought all of their, their PR for their social media and stuff and so they came up, we shot all the video and stuff like that. Yeah. Helped to
Jason (43m 3s):
Find locations and stuff around.
Sean P. Holman (43m 5s):
Yeah. I was excited to see in your social post that Jason has concrete on the floor now because it’s not just dirt. when You guys first started, wasn’t it like your, your makeshift hu that’s always,
Jason (43m 17s):
Always been concrete
Sean P. Holman (43m 19s):
Hut. Yeah, yeah, yeah. We
Jason (43m 20s):
Had to move out. ’cause when we got there it was a, a wood shop. Okay. We had to convert it kind of into what we’re doing now. So
Theresa Contreras (43m 25s):
You guys will have to come up.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (43m 26s):
What is the name of the ranch?
Theresa Contreras (43m 29s):
The desert. A ba, desert
Jason (43m 31s):
Ranch. Desert Ranch. That’s what
Theresa Contreras (43m 31s):
We’re calling it. But. that iss what we call it.
Jason (43m 32s):
Yeah. It’s not really a ranch. And we don’t have like Yellowstone or anything like that. No,
Sean P. Holman (43m 36s):
No. That needs to be like,
Theresa Contreras (43m 37s):
It needs, we do have chickens,
Sean P. Holman (43m 38s):
But do you have a train station? No,
Jason (43m 41s):
We
Sean P. Holman (43m 41s):
Have a wagon. Oh, wagon. Wagon. How many acres is it?
Theresa Contreras (43m 44s):
Two and a half. Okay. It’s not You know, it’s not like 40
Sean P. Holman (43m 47s):
Could call something,
Theresa Contreras (43m 48s):
But You know
Sean P. Holman (43m 48s):
Tubular.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (43m 49s):
You know or
Sean P. Holman (43m 50s):
Like tubular, You know ranch, You know tub.
Theresa Contreras (43m 53s):
Is this the eighties? I know. Fabrication I get. Yeah, fabrication.
Sean P. Holman (43m 55s):
Get
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (43m 56s):
It needs to be something that’s something clever tied into what you do.
Sean P. Holman (43m 59s):
Fabric. W Ranch.
Theresa Contreras (44m 0s):
We’ll leave that to you. Haitian.
Sean P. Holman (44m 2s):
I’ll
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (44m 2s):
Come up with something.
Jason (44m 4s):
Kj,
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (44m 5s):
If I come up with it,
Sean P. Holman (44m 6s):
It’s gonna stick. Be careful.
Theresa Contreras (44m 9s):
Like the pod head. Yeah.
Sean P. Holman (44m 10s):
Wait, no, no. That was him. That was you? Yeah. I, I didn’t like, he hated it and all the, we actually like had a survey from the listeners and it was something like 40 to one or something like that. No, no. Okay. Maybe two. It’s just
Theresa Contreras (44m 23s):
Easy to say though. Yeah. Pacha, pa.
Sean P. Holman (44m 25s):
Yeah. He, he thought it would make us sound like we weren’t professional enough and I’m like, have You Heard our show. Our show makes us sound not professional. Who care? Who cares what the building is called? I mean, this is a step up from the janitor closet you guys did before. Seriously,
Theresa Contreras (44m 37s):
If
Sean P. Holman (44m 38s):
You did, I mean, you guys were in our old studio at MotorTrend and it was like, and it’s a closet. It’s funny because,
Theresa Contreras (44m 43s):
I mean, our Dale was like, what? The second episode, I think or something is what? Yeah. Well,
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (44m 48s):
People would come to MotorTrend thinking it’s MotorTrend. And by the way, the MotorTrend, the, the photo cove that we were within. Yeah. That was impressive. Yeah. The building’s impressive. Yeah. And then you get to the broom closet, it was
Sean P. Holman (44m 58s):
Like over room corner. Well, you had, yeah, you had to move the brooms outta the way and trip over some of the trash to get through the door. But if you, if you look, the desk that you’re sitting at is the same desk for MotorTrend. Oh. So,
Theresa Contreras (45m 9s):
Oh, okay. That makes sense. I re I thought so. Yeah. Yeah. This
Sean P. Holman (45m 12s):
Came from surplus. Cool. And they were gonna just store it. And I knew they were getting rid of the building. And I’m like, let me just take it. And they go, right, well, we’re not just gonna give away an expensive piece of, oh God, You know. And I go, you’re like,
Theresa Contreras (45m 21s):
You’re gonna get five bucks for it. I go, look at
Sean P. Holman (45m 23s):
The bottom. I’m gonna, yeah. It literally has wood blocks on the bottom because
Theresa Contreras (45m 27s):
They lost, did it have a penis drawn under? They,
Sean P. Holman (45m 28s):
Underneath? They, they lost a, they lost the feet over on that side. And so it has wooden blocks, like, like one by ones that are screwed up the bottom.
Theresa Contreras (45m 36s):
Yeah. No, this is great. I like
Sean P. Holman (45m 36s):
It. And so I’m like, just let me take that on. Right. Yeah. So then they, they acquiesced and I was able to get the, get the desk.
Theresa Contreras (45m 42s):
Well see. And we had to go to someone else’s place. But how cool was our place
Sean P. Holman (45m 45s):
Today? It was solid.
Theresa Contreras (45m 47s):
We were pretty, we were like,
Sean P. Holman (45m 49s):
I wasn’t expecting that. I’ll be honest with you. I walked in and I was like, oh yeah, she’s gonna be horribly disappointed when she comes to my place later.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (45m 56s):
So then, what is the, what podcast were you on? Holman.
Sean P. Holman (45m 58s):
That would be the Hi Octane Hustle.
Theresa Contreras (46m 0s):
Thank. you? Yes. You’re welcome. So it was at Auto Topia la So they’re big on YouTube. They, I mean, show tons of carve videos and stuff. Yep. And so Jane was on one of their videos, and so she knew Sean that way. And the other, he has a auto concierge place, so these stores vehicles in there. And that’s kind of where that started. There’s some producer stuff. Yeah. He just has insane vehicles. So he was like, he started asking the owners like, can I just take videos of these things? Like they’re just sitting in here and no one cared. They were like, cool. I’m like, oh. So really, he just started by doing that
Sean P. Holman (46m 32s):
Rad. 9 9 3 Turbo. Oh. 64 Continental Hard Talk all over the place. Oh, a turbocharge all over the place. Volkswagen bus. And then I look and like, oh, it’s an F 40 under the cover. There’s this free You know. And Yeah.
Theresa Contreras (46m 44s):
No, all
Sean P. Holman (46m 45s):
Kinds. It was pretty rad. Yeah. Oh, a 1983 CP must,
Theresa Contreras (46m 48s):
The Power power Wagon thing you said whatever. Yeah.
Sean P. Holman (46m 50s):
The, the, the, the command car. Yeah.
Theresa Contreras (46m 53s):
That thing was cool. It’s like a big toy. You know. So
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (46m 55s):
Is this open to the public? No,
Theresa Contreras (46m 57s):
No. It’s auto concierge. So,
Sean P. Holman (46m 59s):
But if you get invited to their podcast you could, you too could experience it. Oh, well you could, you could have walked around and,
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (47m 5s):
Yeah. No, I wasn’t invited.
Theresa Contreras (47m 8s):
Yeah.
Sean P. Holman (47m 11s):
I believe that was, I wasn’t answering the invite is how that should
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (47m 13s):
Be. Yeah. Maybe that’s the case. Yeah.
Theresa Contreras (47m 15s):
But yeah, like Jason Mulligan and Marcel Venable, like we’ve been working pro, I’ve probably known them as long as I’ve known you and stuff.
Sean P. Holman (47m 22s):
How did the, the podcast or vodka, whatever you guys are calling it. Yeah. Like how did that whole deal start? Like what was the impetus of it? And then, ’cause you guys are on season two now, or year two, I guess. Yeah.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (47m 33s):
And make sure and make sure You don’t tell us about how the Raptor turned into a parts line later either. Just, just let’s talk about the,
Sean P. Holman (47m 40s):
She’s been on the show before. I wanna know about her new stuff.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (47m 43s):
We’re trying to sell
Sean P. Holman (47m 44s):
For her for dot com. It’ll be fine. Just
Theresa Contreras (47m 47s):
Go look at the vehicles and, and you’ll wanna buy the stuff. Yeah. Listen, she, she
Sean P. Holman (47m 51s):
Needs more people watching her podcast right now. That’s Yeah. This is the other 50% lighting. Oh, I
Theresa Contreras (47m 57s):
Never forgot to mention that. Yeah. He was like, really? It’s not 50%. It’s like, yeah, You, don You know you do all these other things.
Sean P. Holman (48m 2s):
33 30, 33 33 or
Theresa Contreras (48m 4s):
Something. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. The podcast You know Jane. I met Jane through Jesse as well. So, and that, and that was like s bn too. And
Sean P. Holman (48m 14s):
By way, Jane is sort of a force of nature. Yeah. Like, if you don’t know who she is and she comes in accost you and like, Hey Bella. And you’re like, whoa, lady, what, what is going on? Right. But she’s, well,
Theresa Contreras (48m 26s):
She’s like twice my size too.
Sean P. Holman (48m 27s):
She’s gotta be six, one or two. Is she? Yeah. Yeah. And she somehow shoes shoehorns herself into a, a older red Corvette. Yeah. That’s really badass. Yeah.
Theresa Contreras (48m 36s):
But
Sean P. Holman (48m 37s):
She is like, like if you’re a hundred percent Yeah, she’s right there with you. Maybe a hundred, 102%.
Theresa Contreras (48m 43s):
Yeah. Yeah. Totally. But,
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (48m 44s):
But so this just like machine guns in both ears, like how does it die? How’d you handle it?
Sean P. Holman (48m 49s):
So I didn’t sit between them. It is, I sat next to them rather than between them. And that helped. Yeah. Okay. Have you, do you ever
Theresa Contreras (48m 55s):
Seen if You know that’s how it is? Yeah.
Sean P. Holman (48m 56s):
Ever seen the movie twins? Yes.
Theresa Contreras (48m 58s):
It’s pretty much twins. Yes. So someone, they’re the
Sean P. Holman (49m 1s):
Female
Theresa Contreras (49m 1s):
Version of that. Marcel said to her last time, well, yeah, you’re the straight to Jane. You’re the straight guy. And Theresa’s the comedian.
Sean P. Holman (49m 9s):
Well, it was funny because just, just like, we tried You know to start this show. We were trying to do like the closeout where I’m like, I, my name’s Sean Holman and You know this has been Hi Octa hustler or whatever. You look into the camera and do that. And Theresa’s over here snorting up like whatever, like water. She’s drinking
Theresa Contreras (49m 26s):
Laughing. And she’s like,
Sean P. Holman (49m 28s):
And, and I would look, I
Theresa Contreras (49m 29s):
Look, I’m
Sean P. Holman (49m 29s):
Like, I have one line to deliver. We’re done. Wait, no,
Theresa Contreras (49m 32s):
No. Janes the one that, like, she’s usually the one that
Sean P. Holman (49m 36s):
It was. And let me tell you, there’s some boob touching going on there. Wait, what? It made me feel uncomfortable. Yes. First.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (49m 45s):
So wait, wait. You got a reach, right? Or something?
Theresa Contreras (49m 49s):
She had something and I said boob and I grabbed stuff. She had like a piece of hair on it. Oh,
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (49m 54s):
Okay. Got it. I,
Sean P. Holman (49m 56s):
Wait, wait.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (49m 56s):
I did, wait, hold on, Jason, but it’s
Sean P. Holman (50m 1s):
On my pants.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (50m 2s):
Jason, can you say boob and then reach out and grab? Or is that only for girls?
Sean P. Holman (50m 6s):
I don’t know.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (50m 7s):
I. don Dunno. You never tried it? No. No. He’s got on the way home’s. It’s a good, it’s a good, it’s a good, you got hair on? Don’t talk on the way home. She’s gonna have a fry. Right, Here. And you’re like, boob. Yeah.
Sean P. Holman (50m 17s):
I’m definitely gonna try it. I mean, I’ll, I’ll let You know how it goes, but I’m definitely gonna try.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (50m 23s):
His wife’s gonna smack him upside head. Hey,
Theresa Contreras (50m 24s):
I guess I can just get away with it.
Sean P. Holman (50m 26s):
Well, we were sitting, we were sitting there and, and Jason had like all these snacks and of course they’re like, like cheese puffs with like cheese doodle on it, or cheese doodle with powder. So Jane’s eating ’em, it’s like she’s wearing a black shirt and it’s like, oh. Oh yeah. And I, and I’m like, I’m like, and you were, yeah, I was a perfect gentleman. I didn’t You did. I didn’t say boo. No. I just was like, you have, because I always You know, Jason know we both have beer. Yeah. You know you have stuff. I’m like, I’m not trying to look or anything. So anyway, meanwhile Theresa over here is like, boop, and then there’s fondling going on.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (51m 0s):
She’s pawing out.
Sean P. Holman (51m 2s):
I asked her, I go like, what kind of show is this? She liked my family show
Theresa Contreras (51m 6s):
Hair. I grabbed it and that was it. And I was
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (51m 7s):
Done. Is that Victoria’s Secret or is that, let me see there. Oh, I like the underwire.
Sean P. Holman (51m 12s):
That’s really nuts. Way women, women are the only creature that will share each other’s shoes. Why? Like guys would never share shoes. A girl’s like, oh my God, can I borrow those? Sometimes? I never understood that.
Theresa Contreras (51m 22s):
When did this turn into,
Sean P. Holman (51m 25s):
If I could only wear this is their other podcasts that they do I don? Is
Theresa Contreras (51m 27s):
It like sharing tires?
Sean P. Holman (51m 32s):
See, this is what happens when your friends come on your podcast way in sharing tires.
Theresa Contreras (51m 36s):
Yeah. Okay. So going back to Ja like Yeah. Riding shotguns. So Jane and I met, we kind of met through like the SBN bill a little bit.
Sean P. Holman (51m 43s):
By the
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (51m 43s):
Way, that’s the name. That’s the name of a po Yeah. Of like a podcast. So
Theresa Contreras (51m 48s):
Writing shotgun’s cool. But if you look up writing shotgun Yeah, it’s taken on YouTube. No, on YouTube. Weird things come up. I’m serious now. Now it’s gonna go
Sean P. Holman (51m 59s):
Look
Theresa Contreras (51m 59s):
It up. Because weird things like no, like anime. Oh, like weird anime stuff. And we’re like, who doesn’t know what riding shotguns mean? Well obviously only like automotive people do, but it’s not a Oh
Sean P. Holman (52m 12s):
Yeah. That’s weird.
Theresa Contreras (52m 13s):
It’s it is weird, right?
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (52m 14s):
Yeah. But you can suppress that if you, if you weird run with enough content,
Theresa Contreras (52m 17s):
Jason, I told you right? Yeah. No, you put it up
Sean P. Holman (52m 20s):
On the screen. Here’s
Theresa Contreras (52m 21s):
All. No, it’s weird. This is what comes up if you put that in. Yeah.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (52m 25s):
A couple of old men with, with weird looks on their faces and a And all anime. Yeah. And a girl with a horse. Wait, what? I’m not
Sean P. Holman (52m 33s):
So
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (52m 34s):
Why is it, oh,
Sean P. Holman (52m 35s):
This is is weird. We’re gonna,
Theresa Contreras (52m 38s):
Okay. Yeah.
Sean P. Holman (52m 38s):
Okay. So this is a family show, Lightning.
Theresa Contreras (52m 40s):
Okay. So last year, about this time, literally a year ago, it would be, so Jane and I, she had that as a, as a, as a
Sean P. Holman (52m 47s):
Blog. let me, let me guess. You guys hit it off.
Theresa Contreras (52m 50s):
Yeah. Well we did, we did. Yeah. With Jesse. So she actually worked for KNN, she wrote an article on the, the BMWR nine T. So that’s kind of how we You know. And that was 2015. So that’s how her and I are like more connected and have known each other over the years. And she started her own thing. ’cause she’s a journalist, so she was doing those kind of things. And then, then same thing, we just, we get along and You know our, our like we just clicked. Right? Yeah. And, and we’re able to connect with people really well. And so, and so she asked me, You know, Hey, you wanna do this with me? And we’re like, yeah. So we started doing a couple more episodes together. We did our Zoom ones that are You know.
Theresa Contreras (53m 30s):
Yeah. Some people saw ’em. And then Yes, we did. It was underwriting shotgun tv. And then we met with Marcel and Jason and then my Jason too last year about exactly a year ago. And they were like, yeah, we wanna try, we will help you produce it and stuff. And we were, they were like, you need to change the title because look what comes up. And we were like, oh yeah, that’s not good. So we all sat around, we figured out a name and then, and then last year,
Jason (53m 57s):
And the other concern was the shotgun part with the way that no
Sean P. Holman (54m 0s):
SEO
Jason (54m 2s):
The way, the way that You know Facebook and stuff, like models, that kind of stuff. So you’re
Theresa Contreras (54m 6s):
You know. And I think I’m obviously high octane hustle. It just fits right. Because You know we wanted something that really You know it’s still motor sports related. Right. And it was the hustle. We wanted to be able to share people’s stories in the motor sports industry. So, so
Sean P. Holman (54m 19s):
Let’s talk about that. Yeah. So, so what is the, the premise? Yeah. You know. ’cause I, I think it’s evolved a little bit from when You guys started. Yeah. And the diversity of people that you are having on there now is pretty cool. I I think that You know,
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (54m 32s):
I sorry to take it sideways. Yeah. Urban Dictionary writing Shotgun Easy. It’s a sexual position. Oh
Sean P. Holman (54m 38s):
Really? Of course it is. Why would you?
Theresa Contreras (54m 40s):
I didn’t even know that. See? Yes. Why
Sean P. Holman (54m 41s):
Would you ask that? In Urban Dictionary? That’s everything. By the way. Everything in urban dictionaries is a sexual position. Yeah.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (54m 47s):
So it’s,
Theresa Contreras (54m 49s):
I mean see everyone listening to this right now, it’s, I don’t,
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (54m 52s):
It’s earning the right to ride in the front passenger seat of someone’s car. Yeah. By doing something. Okay.
Sean P. Holman (54m 57s):
Alright. Oh,
Theresa Contreras (54m 59s):
That’s okay. Didn’t realize the by doing something part. Yes.
Sean P. Holman (55m 3s):
So I’m looking at not just saying shotgun.
Theresa Contreras (55m 6s):
Got it. Okay.
Sean P. Holman (55m 7s):
So I’m looking at some of your guests here. Yeah. So Jillian. Rebecca. Yeah. So You know her, she’s great. A lady Overlander who has got a pretty big following on there. Yeah. Tanner Faust obviously. Yeah. An amazing off-Road driver. You’ve got Martina Kwan today. You guys had the lady from Yokohama.
Theresa Contreras (55m 27s):
Yes. We had Trisha Wall, tri Wall. She’s the marketing manager for Yokohama. So that was really cool. She’s an aerodynamicist.
Sean P. Holman (55m 34s):
Yeah, I was, listen, so I got there early. Oh gosh. And, and I was listening to some of her storytelling about the difference between like, NASCAR and, and just different ways that they do air and how it matters and stuff. I thought it was really interesting.
Theresa Contreras (55m 44s):
She wants to be like, she wants to build the first indie car that’s like all female built and stuff
Sean P. Holman (55m 49s):
Like that. And of course Sean Holman from The truck. Show Podcast, yes. Yes. An OV magazine.
Theresa Contreras (55m 52s):
Yeah, exactly. Exactly.
Sean P. Holman (55m 54s):
We had made a a, an appearance in a future episode. I was disappointed though because you prepped me with an email with all the things that I should be ready for. Okay. And you didn’t ask me which person, dead or alive that I would want to have a beer with I
Theresa Contreras (56m 6s):
Thought Ja Jane didn’t end up asking. No, that’s her question.
Sean P. Holman (56m 8s):
I know, I know. Didn’t happen. We went sideways a lot. What was
Theresa Contreras (56m 11s):
Tell go figure. What me tell me.
Sean P. Holman (56m 13s):
So I
Theresa Contreras (56m 14s):
You thought about it. I have
Sean P. Holman (56m 15s):
Thought about it. Okay. I I’ve thought about it lot. You gotta say Jesus because I gotta, I gotta know. Right? Okay. So so there’s, that’s that’s
Theresa Contreras (56m 21s):
A great, that’s a
Sean P. Holman (56m 22s):
Great point. So there’s my dead, there’s my, my dead and gone person. ’cause I, I wanna know and, and Right. My life person would be Mike Row.
Theresa Contreras (56m 31s):
Oh, I love that.
Sean P. Holman (56m 31s):
I would love to sit down with Mike and have a beer. Of course. Yeah. I think, I think that would total awesome person. Yeah. You know how, there’s some people that you get to know through their work, but You don’t know ’em personally. And maybe you been in their orbit a little bit. You been by, you were at an event they were at, but you didn’t see ’em or You know some of the same people they know or their, their life goal You know is aligns with certain of things that are important to you. Like with, of as mentorship and, and blue collar and all that stuff right now.
Theresa Contreras (56m 55s):
Yeah. I totally feel like the real deal revolution stuff. Yeah.
Sean P. Holman (56m 57s):
Totally
Theresa Contreras (56m 58s):
Aligns with that too. I know. Totally.
Sean P. Holman (56m 60s):
I know. And so you kind of feel like You know them a little bit. Yeah, yeah. Even though you don’t Yeah. That’s kinda how I feel like with Micro everything he does, I I’m really into, I love his podcast. I You know love Dirty Jobs. I just, I find the guy super interesting reading his books and stuff like that.
Theresa Contreras (57m 13s):
We, we would listen to the other ones, the short stories he
Sean P. Holman (57m 16s):
Did too, the way I heard it way already.
Theresa Contreras (57m 18s):
Yeah. Those are so good.
Jason (57m 19s):
Yeah. ’cause that kinda reminded me of the old, was it?
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (57m 23s):
This is Paul Harvey.
Sean P. Holman (57m 24s):
Paul Harvey part good.
Theresa Contreras (57m 25s):
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Sean P. Holman (57m 26s):
I I I love his storytelling because he disassembles the story and feeds it to you in a completely different way. It does.
Theresa Contreras (57m 31s):
And that was, yeah. Now
8 (57m 34s):
The rest of the story, Harvey Ton Beckley, West Virginia as cute as can be, has a pug nose, darling eyes and a piercing scream. So Herbie, the family’s chimpanzee has gone through so many babysitters. The Stens have lost count. The last one he just led to the door and pushed her out. Paul Harvey. What day?
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (57m 57s):
Paul Harvey. Good day. Good day.
Sean P. Holman (57m 59s):
So I, I love the way he kind of disassembles and reassembles the story and doesn’t tell you what it’s about till the end. And a lot of times You know, obviously Mike Rose an incredible storyteller. Yes. But
8 (58m 8s):
He’ll rest of the story.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (58m 9s):
Sorry. Kept playing, kept playing. Sorry.
Theresa Contreras (58m 13s):
Can
Sean P. Holman (58m 14s):
We get on with our podcast? Of course. Mike is an incredible storyteller. But the thing I like love about it is it’s a story you already know. You just don’t know You know it till the end. Yeah. And so then you go, oh, my You know. And you’re like, it sort of sounds familiar, but, but I didn’t know that about it. So I think that’s really cool.
Jason (58m 29s):
I think you kind of go along with you’re trying to guess like, oh wait, maybe it’s this or, or who it is or,
Theresa Contreras (58m 33s):
Yeah, no, and with, with High Octane Hustle, it’s like, we want, we wanna share the stories of, of people that are out there in the motorsport industry of like why they’re doing it, why you do the hustle, why you do the day to day. Because we all know there’s some kind of grind there and there’s some kind of like, we all put the blood sweat and tears in somehow or somewhere, but it’s all different for all of us. You know
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (58m 56s):
Now. So was Sean Holman from OVR or was Sean Holman from Truck Show Podcast everything Or formerly of MotorTrend and Petersen and all that. All those things. All those things. Interesting. All
Theresa Contreras (59m 4s):
Those things. All the things. Maybe some
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (59m 6s):
Day you’ll, so, so I need to, I need to listen to the interview then. If I wanna know more about my co-host.
Jason (59m 10s):
I’m sure they didn’t talk about him though, right?
Sean P. Holman (59m 12s):
I mean, we named dropped a couple
Theresa Contreras (59m 13s):
Times. Yeah, no. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Sean P. Holman (59m 15s):
I think we led led the whole truck show
Theresa Contreras (59m 17s):
Conversation. Hey, I grew up listening to you on camera. I, that was a big deal for
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (59m 22s):
Me. Sorry about that.
Sean P. Holman (59m 23s):
It’s less of a big deal now clearly, but, but
Theresa Contreras (59m 25s):
Like, it really was like, and that’s what we were kind of talking
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (59m 27s):
About, say don’t meet your heroes. Right. Don’t Right here I am. It sucks. But like,
Theresa Contreras (59m 30s):
Kro in general, like how much it was a big impact. I said my son’s name is Carson because of Carson Dly. Like, I literally like coming home,
Sean P. Holman (59m 39s):
But please tell me Lightning was a a a close second.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (59m 42s):
Yeah.
Sean P. Holman (59m 43s):
This is Lightning Contreras.
Theresa Contreras (59m 46s):
I guess it kind of makes me think of what your story was today too. The guy in like his father working on a car because Yeah, it’s like I, I would come home leaving college and I would listen to Carson in the afternoon and stuff and like that’s, that was my time coming home too. So there’s all those things that you’re right. It, it is that connection. It’s like, oh, you got people with you You know and You know these people. It’s like, you’re you talking about Mike Rowe too? Like, you hear that, you feel like, okay, like I like this is my tribe. I like, I jive with them. Yeah, I understand them. They get me. And that’s like High Octane Hustle is about like, sharing that we already know we all love doing this. Like, something about it is connecting us in a way.
Theresa Contreras (1h 0m 28s):
And like, we just wanna share other people’s stories to get them excited about getting into automotive. So
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 0m 34s):
I did watch a couple of episodes and you got Thank you deeper Thank you than I expected. Thank you like Miles creator of Dub Dub magazine. Yeah. And dub show and everything that he was MTV fame and all that stuff. And he just, within two minutes he was deep. Like he was just, he, he was real. And I thought, well that’s not what I expected to see.
Theresa Contreras (1h 0m 55s):
We had one of the other guy, we had Morgan Clark, don don’t know if you guys follow him too. He did Vivian, which is a, what is it not 73 F 100 that like SoCal Eric has or whatever. So anyway, he was like, he was like tearing up and stuff talking to us too and stuff. It, it, there’s some hopefully You know with Jane and I, we connect with people to make them feel comfortable to be in a safe space that like, we want to hear their story. We want them to be able to really share something that like, that makes them feel like they’re being heard.
Theresa Contreras (1h 1m 36s):
I
Sean P. Holman (1h 1m 36s):
I appreciated the tears at the end of my interview. I know there were, I know there were tears of joy because it was over with, but I just, the same I thought it was a nice You know, emotional I thought we shared a human moment. They were
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 1m 48s):
Tears of pain. I gotta, well
Theresa Contreras (1h 1m 50s):
We’ve had a lot of people like get pretty emotional and pretty deep on our on on ’em too. Man,
Sean P. Holman (1h 1m 55s):
I feel like I didn’t do my part.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 1m 58s):
You know what, like what are you saying to extract this from them?
Sean P. Holman (1h 2m 2s):
And would you like to do another podcast?
Theresa Contreras (1h 2m 5s):
Do you wanna cry now? Do you want me to make you cry,
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 2m 9s):
Sean? No. Well, maybe he feels like he was being too showy. Right. Do you feel like, hold on a second, Holman, do you feel like you weren’t honest enough?
Theresa Contreras (1h 2m 16s):
No. He’s talking about whatcha talking about, he’s talking about throwing up and
Sean P. Holman (1h 2m 20s):
You know race helmet. Oh my God. What are we gonna talk about? Yeah. But, that story redeemed itself, didn’t it? Awesome.
Theresa Contreras (1h 2m 26s):
It did. It did. Yeah. It was good. I think we just really want some, like I said, we want someone to be raw. We want people to be vulnerable in a way that helps share a story that others will be, like I said, inspired by. Maybe
Sean P. Holman (1h 2m 40s):
That’s what we’re doing wrong. We’re
Theresa Contreras (1h 2m 41s):
All freaking humans.
Sean P. Holman (1h 2m 42s):
I I think we just want somebody to be warm.
Theresa Contreras (1h 2m 44s):
Warm.
Sean P. Holman (1h 2m 45s):
Yeah. Like alive in what way? No, we just want some I have a pulse. Yeah. Those are the types of guests that we often look for or the ones that are willing, but I’m, we’re
Theresa Contreras (1h 2m 52s):
Not looking for that guest either. I I What
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 2m 55s):
Are you gonna do to like warm up yourself? Have ’em sit there naked. Like really disarm ’em.
Sean P. Holman (1h 2m 58s):
Like what? I mean they’re already grabbing each other’s boobs. So I mean, right
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 3m 3s):
Away do you wanna go? Nobody? Like if your gifts had to be sit there naked, like they’re totally like so vulnerable. No, I’m here nude.
Theresa Contreras (1h 3m 10s):
You’ll just have to come on and find out. Won’t you
Sean P. Holman (1h 3m 13s):
Make him the first one You know you should do is you should tell ’em that’s what it is. Banana
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 3m 17s):
Hammock
Sean P. Holman (1h 3m 17s):
Style and then, and then not actually have, just have him show up and thinking that’s what it is. Yeah. Yeah.
Theresa Contreras (1h 3m 22s):
I You know, I obviously we’ve all known each other for a while so we all feel comfortable. Two minutes, but but that’s just what Jane and I try to do is just make someone feel totally comfortable that they, they wanna share like no one else out is out there is listening. Yeah. Like we’re just in a room like the You know, just
Sean P. Holman (1h 3m 40s):
Hanging out with your friends.
Theresa Contreras (1h 3m 40s):
Yeah, exactly. Janie that did it afterwards too. That was her first podcast. We were like, it turned out great too. Nice. Because what I love she
Sean P. Holman (1h 3m 48s):
Brought you a case of Monster.
Theresa Contreras (1h 3m 50s):
Yes. She
Sean P. Holman (1h 3m 51s):
Energy guard. I brought you hard monster. So I saw that. Impressive.
Theresa Contreras (1h 3m 55s):
Yeah, I have some if you want any, but Will the
Sean P. Holman (1h 3m 57s):
Fridge here.
Theresa Contreras (1h 3m 59s):
So I had met her on a run in Baja and what was really cool is like, so, and it was her birthday too, so we were at in back in Ensenada at Papa’s and Beers and You know. And she, she was riding shotgun the whole time. Her husband was driving right on the trip. And I was out there driving. I was with Rick Hor and he was my co-driver. And so, so we’re down there and then we’re at, we’re at the club and I was like, You know, telling her happy birthday and stuff. And I was like, oh. I’m like, would you ever wanna get behind the Wheel? And she was like, what? Yeah. And it just made her think like, oh, maybe I do
Sean P. Holman (1h 4m 32s):
May maybe so,
Theresa Contreras (1h 4m 33s):
And now she’s like, I think I wanna race.
Sean P. Holman (1h 4m 35s):
Wow. We’re like, yes,
Theresa Contreras (1h 4m 37s):
You know. Like, so it’s that kind of thing
Sean P. Holman (1h 4m 39s):
That like, it’s like that meme where it says MP three, MP four, MP five. And it’s like, that escalated quickly.
Theresa Contreras (1h 4m 46s):
But it’s like, I mean, I wanna see more people like love this industry as much as I do. I want, I literally getting outdoors and like that adventure, like that part of it is such a big thing to me. I mean, I remember us having a conversation on Chocolate Thunder and stuff like that. It’s like, it’s different when you’re outdoors and you’re hanging out and doing that. By the
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 5m 5s):
Way, that’s a mountain by the way, that’s
Sean P. Holman (1h 5m 7s):
In Johnson. Right? It’s not a nickname. Not nickname.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 5m 13s):
And was not writing shotgun.
Sean P. Holman (1h 5m 14s):
And I am, I’m super happy. Sound weird. I’m just happy that Theresa found conversation, found something that got her out of her shell so that she could really express her passions. Yes.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 5m 24s):
So can I ask you, so you, you reference this industry, this industry, this industry a lot. What is this industry?
Theresa Contreras (1h 5m 32s):
I guess automotive. I mean that’s what I grew up in. I, I, I guess I think of trucks too because offroad
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 5m 38s):
Here, here’s why. Here’s why I wanna define it. Okay. Because there are some people that hawk cars that use car dealerships. They think they’re in the industry or dealerships. There are people that sell tires that think so. So that’s not what you’re talking about. Good point. And that they, you, you not saying that they aren’t automotive enthusiasts. Sure they can be. But you’re, you, you’re talking about a different sector. You’re talking about the overlander, the the the aftermarket parts person
Theresa Contreras (1h 6m 3s):
Mod. Yeah,
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 6m 4s):
The modifier
Theresa Contreras (1h 6m 4s):
Vehicles. Yeah.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 6m 5s):
Yeah.
Theresa Contreras (1h 6m 6s):
Like that’s your thing. Yeah. Yeah. No, that’s a good point. Yeah. I guess modifying a vehicle, I mean, to me it’s an extension of your personality. I mean that’s kind of like what Baja forged is to us. You know, it’s, it’s, this is a way we can like show other people like who we are. And I think that’s why like even interiors of cars, that’s why I think pulling that warmth in, it’s like all of that, it’s like being outdoors, but also being comfortable and being like part like You know we’re part of this world, You know. And so it’s like expressing that in a different way. But really once you get behind the Wheel, it’s so empowering to like You know accomplish getting up a hill or going on a trail and being like, I just did that You know and you’re in the middle of nowhere overlooking this insane scenery being like, I’m like in the middle of the world by myself.
Theresa Contreras (1h 6m 56s):
Yeah. Like, this is so cool. And it’s, it’s just a different feeling that I think if other people felt that they’d wanna get out there, they’d understand what it was. They’d wanna modify their vehicles
Sean P. Holman (1h 7m 8s):
And then come see us at ba hoge for dot com. Exactly.
Theresa Contreras (1h 7m 11s):
Come on down.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 7m 14s):
So what about, do you feel that you can make that same connection, that You know someone lives in the Smoky Mountains or someone that lives in You know in the middle of the country that doesn’t have the desert. Like how do you relate to that person?
Sean P. Holman (1h 7m 28s):
That’s their new lineup called Forest Forged. Forged. Yeah. That’s gonna be a spinoff for
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 7m 33s):
It’s all made
Sean P. Holman (1h 7m 33s):
Out of wood. Yeah. Wood pump for all wood products. Yeah.
Theresa Contreras (1h 7m 35s):
I’ll let you answer that one Jason.
Jason (1h 7m 38s):
He’s asking,
Sean P. Holman (1h 7m 40s):
He’s trying to deft, he’s trying to deflect. We
Jason (1h 7m 42s):
Have our, our i our four by four edition bumpers are gonna be coming out. No, it,
Theresa Contreras (1h 7m 48s):
It’s, it’s, I hate it’s being outdoors.
Jason (1h 7m 49s):
Yeah. No, it’s hard. I mean, I, you go on forums and you start reading like for Baja Forge Wise, our style’s different than everybody else. Yeah. So it You know. It’s more, it’s more style. It’s not for everyone. So some people want that tube style. Some people hate it. They think it’s like, oh, it’s just a two bumper. It’s nothing big. But until they’ve tried to make one You know they’re, they’re, they’re not an easy thing to duplicate. So,
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 8m 10s):
And go back to like the original Baja Forge name. Right. And and you say Tube style. So that is your thing. Yeah. That is like, that look and feel of tubular bumpers, tubular accessories that was kind of forged in Baja or off like desert racing. Right? Yeah. And it’s still school aesthetic also alive,
Theresa Contreras (1h 8m 28s):
But modernized from from Baja vehicles. Yeah. Like, like that’s what you see a, a chassis or something like that. It’s all Tube. Yeah. High
Sean P. Holman (1h 8m 34s):
Clearance.
Theresa Contreras (1h 8m 35s):
Like a vehicle that was built for Baja. So a trophy truck or something Right. Is exactly that. Yeah,
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 8m 40s):
Yeah, yeah. Which isnt like extruded aluminum and, and all that stuff. You know hydro formm, aluminum swing arms on bikes and all that stuff. you know what I mean? It was Tubular. Right. Because that’s what you had DOM that all the guys You know in their garage. when You go back to the original like Fab Fabtech Fabtech, they’re like, oh yeah. Like the guys at Fabtech. Was it Dave Winter?
Theresa Contreras (1h 8m 60s):
Winter,
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 9m 1s):
Sorry, Dave Winter at Fabtech. He was building those original lifts in his garage. Yeah. And then go back to like Don ler Sr at FMF flying Machine Factory making dirt bikes up. They was in his garage. Yeah. Yeah. And he was all racing in Southern California desert or You know Mexico. And that look still carries through all of their product line. The, all these years later, You know there’s a scene here that doesn’t exist in other parts of the country. Yeah. Yet the products carry through the rest of the country. I
Theresa Contreras (1h 9m 30s):
Agree. Yeah. Yeah. You know, it’s like anything like, yes. It has more of the, I guess Western aesthetic You know. And, and Baja is really where it comes from. That’s where it was born in that look. But I think it’s like our modern update version of it is really what we, what we bring to it. You know. And of course you don’t Yeah. On the east coast they might, not everyone might want it, but there’s still people that want it.
Sean P. Holman (1h 9m 55s):
Oh, there’s a lot of people still like the West coast vibe.
Theresa Contreras (1h 9m 57s):
Yeah. There’re still, yeah, totally. So
Sean P. Holman (1h 9m 58s):
Just because they wanna be different, right? Yeah. Yeah. I mean it’s, it’s West Coast Pompousness, but we’re good with that.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 10m 2s):
Yeah. So then talk me through like one of your bumpers, which would be, if you look at like to, like a, was a DD addictive desert design, something like that. Yeah. That’s all box. That’s who it’s all boxed steel stuff like that in Yeah. Yeah. Steel, steel plate styles. Steel plate where they have their, their lights are pocketed in. Sure. Things like that. Yeah. That’s not your style. So I wanna No, it’s different. I want to say how different these styles are. So describe where were my, where am I putting my Caseys or my You know my Baja lights or whatever. Yeah. On your bumpers.
Theresa Contreras (1h 10m 29s):
Yeah. So, so with our tubes and stuff, they’ll definitely will sit behind a tube You know for protection or anything like that. The idea with the tube part of it is that again, it brings that the Baja looks. So off-roading, you have a Baja 1000. Right. You have a trophy truck or something like that. So you’re having this tube, this round tube bumper on there. We’re trying to replicate that in a way, but modernize it so that it fits your vehicle. So the contours of the, of the vehicle, what don don’t like about like big steel plate, like big steel bumpers that are just flat plate,
Sean P. Holman (1h 11m 6s):
Visually heavy.
Theresa Contreras (1h 11m 7s):
Yeah. They, they don’t, they don’t flow with the rest of the vehicle. It, it has, it has a different look. That’s all. And so I’m, I I’m trying to get again that baja look and feel and it flow with the rest of it. So yes, most of our lights are still in set so they can still come through. We’ll we’ll make different sections. You know, but they’re all No, they’re fully tubed with just a plate onto plate. Well yeah, we
Jason (1h 11m 34s):
Have, we have aluminum plate, we have a plate on the top of like our Bronco bumper as a a two inch
Theresa Contreras (1h 11m 41s):
It’s a cover plate. Yeah, well
Jason (1h 11m 42s):
It’s got a cover plate, but they’re on the inner structure of it. There’s a two inch oh steel plate. And then you can mount lights across that You know Casey’s or
Theresa Contreras (1h 11m 51s):
Rigid whatever you wanna do. And it has a quarter inch plate to, for, because it’s a bumper. Yes. So that’s behind it to, to house the winch. So there’s
Sean P. Holman (1h 11m 59s):
Basically structure behind it in order
Jason (1h 12m 1s):
Of course. And it’s got a cover plate that hides.
Theresa Contreras (1h 12m 2s):
But like You know with our is the biggest thing with, with our crawler bumper for the Broncos is that we have a winch in there and like half the people look at it and they’re like, how, where is there a winch? Well,
Sean P. Holman (1h 12m 12s):
And it’s also hard on a Bronco, but we
Theresa Contreras (1h 12m 13s):
Kept pushing it back and back and back and back and back and tucking it. Totally.
Sean P. Holman (1h 12m 16s):
People don’t realize it’s so hard on a Bronco that the Ford accessory one is actually sticks out in front of their bumper. Correct. And to fit it in there, because both engines, whether you have the four cylinder or the V six, are both turbocharged with intercos. And so you’re intruding on that space.
Theresa Contreras (1h 12m 29s):
It’s not the inner cooler though. It’s a, it’s a vent. So the shutter system, it’s the shutter system that keeps it warm.
Sean P. Holman (1h 12m 37s):
Right. It it’s it’s the shutter system that adjusts airflow to the cooling stack. Yes. But I mean, still something that’s in that space. Yeah. So to be able to put something in there. Yeah.
Theresa Contreras (1h 12m 46s):
But the airflow that it tries to get to it is to keep it warm. Yeah. So if you look it up, it’s to, it’s to keep the engine in colder temps like back east and stuff to keep the engine warmer. So we’re not having that problem out here. And you still have a winch in front of it. And what we had is that, that we started winning awards from Ford every, literally, you know
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 13m 7s):
What does Ford
Theresa Contreras (1h 13m 7s):
Know straight? We got design awards every year in a row from them. And so four years in a row or something. Yeah. Was, it was really cool. Now we’re like, now explain. We’re like, I guess we have something here. What
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 13m 18s):
Does that mean though? when You, are you winning a design award for your bumpers or the entire vehicle?
Theresa Contreras (1h 13m 22s):
The entire vehicle. The entire aesthetic of the vehicle. Yes.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 13m 25s):
So Ford gives you some smoking deal on a vehicle and says what are you, they ask what you are gonna build. Right. So you gotta give ’em a rendering
Theresa Contreras (1h 13m 34s):
Or something? We put that in first. Yes. Correct. Okay. We, we pe a ton of people submit renderings and then Ford picks who they want to have these vehicles. Yes. Okay. And they don’t do this anymore. This was an older thing, right? 2021 was the last year. Yeah. Yeah. 2021. Well they’re there. That was when we got our Broco anymore. Yeah. Huh?
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 13m 53s):
Yeah. Yeah. Ford’s not even there. It’s
Theresa Contreras (1h 13m 55s):
Sema. No. So the Bronco and the Bronco Sport were last vehicles and the Ford booth. Yeah.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 13m 60s):
That’s pretty special though. It was when an OE says, we love your stuff as much as the, the vehicle that we built.
Theresa Contreras (1h 14m 7s):
Yeah, yeah,
Sean P. Holman (1h 14m 8s):
Yeah. I think part of it is because you I agree. Keep the design aesthetic. You give it the aftermarket, the additional we enhance it. Yeah. You, you, you still, it’s still aftermarket, it still has more functionality than stock, but doesn’t take away from all their hard work. And I think they appreciate that.
Theresa Contreras (1h 14m 22s):
Yeah. And that’s what we wanna do. We don’t wanna, we’re not trying to change it where we’re enhancing it is probably the best word I can think of to make it look, I want it to look like a concept vehicle that they would’ve built for that vehicle. You know, I think we kind of did that with like the Jay Leno one too. And we got to work with Ford on that one. What was that? The 68 Bronco that we worked with on him and we built for him. But we worked with, with the Bronco designers and we were really able to get something that looked like a concept from 1968.
Sean P. Holman (1h 14m 56s):
So I think one of the coolest things that you guys have done is the Bronco sport. ’cause you actually made it look like something.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 15m 2s):
And I don’t even
Sean P. Holman (1h 15m 3s):
Freaking website, we don’t have any products. What
Theresa Contreras (1h 15m 5s):
Everyone’s gonna blow up
Sean P. Holman (1h 15m 6s):
Now. I know because
Theresa Contreras (1h 15m 8s):
You don’t even know.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 15m 9s):
Not all the
Theresa Contreras (1h 15m 10s):
Time. I probably have three text a a
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 15m 12s):
Or something about it that does not look like a Bronco sport. No, it’s awesome. My, my parents have a Bronco sport and that’s not a Bronco sport that
Sean P. Holman (1h 15m 17s):
It looks super red and
Theresa Contreras (1h 15m 19s):
Yeah, I literally all the time, I’m not gonna lie all the time.
Sean P. Holman (1h 15m 22s):
And Bill Stein just came out with their B eight Terra Sport struts. And I, the Bronco Sport is coming I think 24. Cool. So it’s a two inch lift from a, from a new strut so you don’t have to use per vaers anymore. Nice. So,
Theresa Contreras (1h 15m 33s):
So that basically, so Icon built us and this is about one in three quarters. So it’s not true two inch, but about the same. ’cause one of their engineers came from ibo. Oh yeah. And so he knew he knew struts and stuff. Yeah. ’cause they didn’t really know that. Right. So they, they custom built these struts for
Sean P. Holman (1h 15m 50s):
Us. Well and that’s what’s cool ’cause you can actually get real performance out of it and it’s Oh, you put on the puck list that thing and you get ride issues. You get coil bind. Yeah. You get all sorts of, now the steering geometry can hit the sway bar at full lock because there’s not enough room. And so this is the next bastion of modification is the CUVs. It’s the Subarus, it’s the Mavericks, it’s the Bronco Sports. The Rav fours.
Theresa Contreras (1h 16m 11s):
And that thing with the locker in it literally goes anywhere. Oh yeah.
Sean P. Holman (1h 16m 15s):
That’s what that day Dana rear axle Dana has a locker.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 16m 18s):
So if you’re curious what we’re talking about, it’s baja forge dot com slash bronco sport. Yeah. So baja for dot com slash bronco sport. You’ll see the
Theresa Contreras (1h 16m 27s):
Photo. But now my phone’s gonna blow up. You’re
Sean P. Holman (1h 16m 29s):
Welcome.
Theresa Contreras (1h 16m 30s):
We were, I was telling Jay we, and it is, we people want the bumper, we want We got it. It so if you in the last
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 16m 37s):
Could time manage a little better than you could get some stuff to market.
Sean P. Holman (1h 16m 41s):
So You know Stop talking.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 16m 43s):
Stop talking
Sean P. Holman (1h 16m 44s):
Podcast. The issue is she needs to put 63% toward Baja Forge to help Jason get this stuff out the door. Yeah.
Theresa Contreras (1h 16m 52s):
So in the, in the last year, we fully put You know our time into Baja Forge where it was, it was a side hustle before. That’s what it was for us. We, we You know I, we worked at L-G-E-C-T-S Motorsports and that’s what we did. And Baja Forge was like what we were trying to create with these vehicles and kind of do that. And so we finally were like, okay, we need to do this. Like obviously people are asking us about this and we need to do that. So last year we were able to secure a good person to, we could sub contract our manufacturing stuff too. So now we’re just doing r and d ’cause we were building them ourselves too. So Yes. Every
Sean P. Holman (1h 17m 31s):
Single one hand built. Yeah.
Theresa Contreras (1h 17m 32s):
Yeah. So we’d have local people trying to get everyone in to do the You know to get parts out. But now we’re able to have someone else build them in-house fully already boxed in, in housed there. So that’s great. We don’t have to worry about that anymore in America.
Sean P. Holman (1h 17m 47s):
Made in America
Theresa Contreras (1h 17m 47s):
And made in Thank you made in America too. ’cause that’s a really, which is
Sean P. Holman (1h 17m 50s):
Another challenge.
Theresa Contreras (1h 17m 51s):
Yeah. ’cause obviously they’re not the cheapest out there because that was really important to us that we kept that You know made in America. And You know we do things like desert Kleenex,
Sean P. Holman (1h 17m 60s):
Although you probably could have gotten away with made in Mexico. I’m just saying.
Theresa Contreras (1h 18m 3s):
So we did
Sean P. Holman (1h 18m 4s):
Like, and there is a ton of, there is a ton of metal manufacturing in Tijuana.
Theresa Contreras (1h 18m 9s):
A hundred percent. Yeah. And we did look at that. Yeah. And that’s not, it’s not against, but I’m not gonna lie, when you’re rolling and bending. Yeah. And if people look at our compound rolls and bends on a two bumper like that, they’ll understand. Yeah. You don’t get, like when people start to really look, ’cause they’re like, oh, you can just do it straight and do a bend. And I’m like, no, it has a compound roll in bend. Well,
Sean P. Holman (1h 18m 30s):
If
Theresa Contreras (1h 18m 30s):
Someone knows what that means,
Sean P. Holman (1h 18m 31s):
Then it’s different. You guys are matching the body lines. Exactly. Not just doing a straight cut across.
Theresa Contreras (1h 18m 35s):
And that means it, it’s different. So there’s, yes, they’re little tweaks, but You know people that are are buying them are, are like photographers and they’re, they aesthetics matter to some people. Well,
Sean P. Holman (1h 18m 45s):
And it’s hard to duplicate some of those things. A lot of
Theresa Contreras (1h 18m 47s):
People But, you
Sean P. Holman (1h 18m 48s):
Know what I mean, at scale, right. Yeah. Yeah. That’s, it’s it’s keeping the consistency between all the bumpers and
Theresa Contreras (1h 18m 53s):
Yeah,
Sean P. Holman (1h 18m 53s):
Definitely. It’s, it’s one
Theresa Contreras (1h 18m 55s):
Of the challenges. So, so we’ve been taught, so this year is more of the r and d that we can now work on a more work on a vehicle like this to get parts out and product to market. So we’ve been talking about what the next one is we’re gonna do. So, and yes, my phone was blowing up today about some of
Sean P. Holman (1h 19m 11s):
This.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 19m 12s):
So, so how, what’s the
Sean P. Holman (1h 19m 13s):
It does look good. How are, are you selling these?
Theresa Contreras (1h 19m 15s):
So capable. So
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 19m 15s):
I’m going to baja forge dot com and that’s where I’m buying the bumper.
Theresa Contreras (1h 19m 18s):
Yeah, yeah. You can go to our website so you can go if you wanna on a Bronco under Bronco and stuff. Yes. We don’t have the other ones. There you go. Yeah. So, so there are
Sean P. Holman (1h 19m 27s):
Products gave your credit card Lightning. I’m gonna go ahead and buy this Ford Bronco, Baja Forge from, it’s in the, it’s in the cart. Right here. You You. Don’t
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 19m 35s):
Own a Bronco.
Sean P. Holman (1h 19m 37s):
I was gonna buy it for your birthday.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 19m 38s):
I don’t own a
Sean P. Holman (1h 19m 39s):
Bronco hanging on your wall. It’s art don don’t even understand it’s industrial art.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 19m 44s):
You’re just trying to line your pocket.
Sean P. Holman (1h 19m 46s):
You Hey Jason,
Theresa Contreras (1h 19m 47s):
Wait. Would go up here just like your horns up here or something. Well,
Sean P. Holman (1h 19m 51s):
You know if you, if you guys have any blends around the shop laying around. I mean we’re always up for art, so
Theresa Contreras (1h 19m 57s):
I love it.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 19m 57s):
Love it. You got two Blems, Right Here in the studio Right. Hosting this thing.
Sean P. Holman (1h 20m 0s):
We, we were cast away a long time ago from manufacturing. So Nice. Yeah. They said those, those two will live in the
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 20m 7s):
Junk pile. So what is the so the future of Baja for Yeah. Is to hunker down at some point and and make as many applications as you can.
Theresa Contreras (1h 20m 17s):
Yeah, yeah. Right. And that’s now, now that we have someone that we’re very happy with, that’s, that’s being able to produce these that You know, because that was a big part. Quality control, all these things. So we kind of went through this process of like, oh man, this is a lot of work. Yeah. Making sure like, are, do we like what you’re, it’s You know like an employee or something like that. You wanna really make sure is this meshing and all of that. And I think You know we’ve gotten through the one year point now too. And so we’re like cool, now we can get to that next level. So yes.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 20m 47s):
Is everything on the website in stock?
Theresa Contreras (1h 20m 50s):
It’s a couple weeks out, so, so it’s like four weeks out right now about Yeah.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 20m 56s):
It’s not too bad.
Theresa Contreras (1h 20m 57s):
Yeah. So, okay. That’s about what we’re, our goal is to You know obviously do less than that. So. Yeah.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 21m 2s):
So are they made to order basically? Or are you trying to get them on? You’re gonna get ’em
Theresa Contreras (1h 21m 6s):
On the shelf? We’re get, yeah, we have a couple more. Like we, we did a couple more in stock right now so that we can do that. So we can have some for like King of the Hammers coming up and stuff, but Yeah. Yeah. Our goal would definitely, our goal is to yes. Put ’em in stock.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 21m 20s):
Are the ships straight out? Are, are you feeling sales in the middle of the country and back east as well? Or is it, is it a west coast thing?
Jason (1h 21m 27s):
We’ve got Texas. Yeah, Colorado
Theresa Contreras (1h 21m 30s):
Both. Yeah. Midwest, I mean there’s still No, we have Florida too. Florida and stuff. Yeah, no. And New Jersey and, yeah. No, it’s all over. Okay. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Congrats. I’m trying to think of everywhere. Yeah, no, it’s everywhere. That’s cool. Yeah. And like our expedition, like that one’s big too. Yeah. And so we’re doing our fender flares now too. Oh, nice. Yeah. So, so the goal would be to give people the aesthetic You know you have like the flares, you have the bumpers. So it’s to give that overall look. Yes. So yeah, we’re having, yes. That’s pretty exciting. Very cool. So, and we’ve been working with, so like we work with EGR to do our flares. We love EGR, so Yeah. And so they, they’re working on like the clips right now and how they’ll mount, actually we need to go there tomorrow.
Theresa Contreras (1h 22m 15s):
I forgot about that. We can go there and say
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 22m 17s):
We’ve, we’ve talked about EGRA lot. Like there, in fact we were in their booth at sema.
Theresa Contreras (1h 22m 21s):
Yeah, yeah,
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 22m 22s):
Exactly. Their, their attention to detail is, is awesome. Unparalleled
Theresa Contreras (1h 22m 25s):
And Yeah. A great product. It was cool. We got to see ’em being made and stuff and so right now You know their concern was like they wanna get the right clips on so that it doesn’t hurt the vehicle at all. It’s easy for the customer to install. This is the part where like You know when we started building vehicles, it’s one off applications. Yeah. So different from a consumer Totally. That wants to install this themselves. So there’s so much more thought process in what that looks like. You know And you’ve
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 22m 52s):
Never written installation instructions before either for the consumer, right? Yeah. No, we been yeah. Warranty, doing info and all that stuff. We’ve
Theresa Contreras (1h 22m 58s):
Doing that So much work. So much work. I know. And like going back through and you’re like, ah, I forgot half these things you have to go through, through again
Sean P. Holman (1h 23m 6s):
Lot. Yeah. That’s why we decided not to make anything other than a podcast. Just download it. You don’t like it, don’t don’t download it again.
Theresa Contreras (1h 23m 13s):
You really have to think about like what, what that person’s gonna have and, and like are they gonna use a cutoff Wheel? Yeah. Can they do a straight line You know
Sean P. Holman (1h 23m 21s):
These, do they have tools? Yeah, exactly.
Jason (1h 23m 23s):
Go back finding old pictures of You know installing bumpers. So you’re trying to tie all that together and then doing them in the order of what you have to do. And it’s, it is, it’s a lot. And then you’re like writing down the notes of what they have to do and,
Theresa Contreras (1h 23m 35s):
And, and when we get the round back, you’re not just working on it back. That’s what we’re gonna do again. Right? Yeah.
Jason (1h 23m 38s):
I do the rear bumper on that one. Yeah.
Theresa Contreras (1h 23m 40s):
Yeah. So, so yes. That’s what we’re gonna be writing more in installation instructions next week probably.
Sean P. Holman (1h 23m 47s):
Yay. Yeah.
Theresa Contreras (1h 23m 49s):
Talking about that.
Sean P. Holman (1h 23m 51s):
Woo. What a glamorous life you lead. Well I, I feel like we should let you go because you, you have all, we’re just taking up your time from writing You know installation instructions, right? Yeah.
Theresa Contreras (1h 24m 2s):
So we’re waiting for the vehicle to be completed. It’s getting the, the PPF is getting done on it. Okay. So, so we painted it in the rooftop painted too a two door. Nice. And then yeah, it’s got full PPF on it. Did
Sean P. Holman (1h 24m 16s):
You partner with anyone? What? PPF?
Theresa Contreras (1h 24m 18s):
No,
Jason (1h 24m 20s):
We do a daily visual. Just daily.
Theresa Contreras (1h 24m 21s):
Did it? Yeah.
Sean P. Holman (1h 24m 22s):
Josh, Josh, Josh, Josh daily. Josh
Theresa Contreras (1h 24m 25s):
Boy, I used to babysit him.
Sean P. Holman (1h 24m 27s):
Did you really?
Theresa Contreras (1h 24m 27s):
Oh yeah. Okay.
Sean P. Holman (1h 24m 28s):
That’s funny. No, what? Oh, we do, next time we have Josh on the show, I don say
Theresa Contreras (1h 24m 35s):
A whole nother story.
Sean P. Holman (1h 24m 36s):
Josh is like a master rapper of, of vehicles not music. Alright. And so everybody goes to him in SoCal for rapping for like SEMA and complete vehicle wraps. He’s super, super highend. Really? Like big jobs, things like that. So that’s who we’re
Theresa Contreras (1h 24m 50s):
Talking about. Yeah. So, so Josh. Oh, okay. So my dad and his dad, his dad raced Formula one boats. Right. Like tunnel boats. Tunnel boats. Oh, okay. Thank you. Wow. Yeah. And my dad was his crew chief. Oh, how funny. Yeah. So then I was the one, like, I was like the You know mama. Yeah. How do I watch all the kids? Yeah. And stuff like that. You’re the babysitter. Yeah. And so Josh, so
Sean P. Holman (1h 25m 14s):
We will use that against him next day. We see Josh was one of ’em. What a small
Theresa Contreras (1h 25m 16s):
World. No, it’s so funny. Yeah. And so Josh’s dad, he did that. He was a, he’s a pin striper. Pin stripper. Yeah. And then he did the wraps and stuff too. And so like at 13 I started working at his, at their place too. I
Sean P. Holman (1h 25m 30s):
Picked up pin striping and stuff like that. And
Theresa Contreras (1h 25m 32s):
Well actually I was just weeding stickers.
Sean P. Holman (1h 25m 34s):
Oh, stickers. Oh my god. That is like, oh,
Theresa Contreras (1h 25m 36s):
But okay, so yeah, so
Sean P. Holman (1h 25m 37s):
Monotony.
Theresa Contreras (1h 25m 38s):
Yeah. And so just being around and so I’ve done all of that type of stuff too and everything. And so, yeah. So yeah. And Josh was around there and so I know his whole family and everything and yeah. That’s how far, that’s funny. Back Jess and I go too. Oh, that’s cool.
Sean P. Holman (1h 25m 51s):
Small world.
Theresa Contreras (1h 25m 52s):

Theresa Contreras (1h 28m 1s):

Sean P. Holman (1h 28m 2s):
Hit ’em all.
Theresa Contreras (1h 28m 4s):
Baja Forge. So baja forge dot com at Baja Forge High Octane Hustle. High Octane Hustle official on Instagram high hustle dot com Real deal revolution. And that’s the same thing at Real Deal Revolution and Real deal revolution.org, because that is a 5 0 1 C3 nonprofit. Oh. At Design Muse for myself. And then we
Sean P. Holman (1h 28m 29s):
Also have Design Baha Sasquatch. Don’t forget Baja Sasquatch. Sasquatch.
Theresa Contreras (1h 28m 33s):
Baja underscore Sasquatch. Yeah. Yes. And then
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 28m 36s):
I thought he was at Find Me in the Shed.
Sean P. Holman (1h 28m 39s):
I could change it to that.
Theresa Contreras (1h 28m 40s):
I mean, Sasquatch that doesn’t You know. We’re slowly building it, but the backside of this is also Design Build Destroy. So it’s designed dash build dash destroy dot com. That’s kind of like our culmination of all these things. We’re not like fully rolling that out our umbrella. But that’ll, that’ll kind of like roll out as it
Sean P. Holman (1h 29m 0s):
It’ll be your your overarching brand. Yeah. Yes. Alright. Yes. So that’s kind of what that is too. I’m so confused by everything Thank you, you’re working on Thank. you. That’s great, congrat. You’re welcome. Me too. Every day. Bye man. The that Talk about some high energy in the podcast. What if we can keep up on our new section? I feel exhausted. You sure? You, you, are you ready for more? You got I, I got, I got some fresh Dr. Pepper. I’m ready to rally with news. All right.
9 (1h 29m 27s):
What’s new in trucks? We need to know what’s new in trucks. We need
Sean P. Holman (1h 29m 32s):
To know
9 (1h 29m 33s):
What’s new in trucks. We need to
3 (1h 29m 35s):
Know Lifted, lowered and everything in between. What’s happening in the world of trucks?
Sean P. Holman (1h 29m 43s):
Ah, that was good. No, it was good. Good. Hey Lightning, did you hear How about New? New? Remember how we had our friends Andy and Mercedes Lilienthal on and they were gonna take that Iios Grenadier to the Arctic Circle and the Alcan 5,000. Yes. Yes. And without it, Hmm. That’s an unproven vehicle. What if you don’t make it? Oh, how unproven was it? It was so unproven that they won first place outta 17 vehicles. No wait. Really? They did. Oh, congratulations. Yeah, they had a, they said it was an amazing vehicle, that it was a champ in deeper snows in, in the ice slalom competition that they felt it was an excellent vehicle for this long and demanding rally.
Sean P. Holman (1h 30m 23s):
And they said that it easily soaked up hundreds of miles of frost, teves and potholes. The Turbocharged b BMW straight six had plenty of power and the interior was comfortable. So I No go them. Yeah. Just wanted go, go Grenadine. I just wanted to shout off the 40th year of the Alcan 5,000 and our friends Mercedes and Andy won their, their class, which I think is super rad. So they competed against 17 other drivers in The truck and SUV category. And there were 39 overall entrance. I feel like we just talked to them two weeks ago. It was a little longer than that, but I know they had time to go to Alaska and back and back and, and came back winners, which is something that probably would never happen to us. I’m not familiar with that concept. Hey Lighting have You Heard.
Sean P. Holman (1h 31m 4s):
No,
10 (1h 31m 4s):
No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no,
Sean P. Holman (1h 31m 7s):
No, no. Uhuh Remember how I told you that the iios, grenadier quartermaster was coming and you went Me? What’s that, Bowman? And I’m like, it’s a iios with a truck bed. You’re like, well that’s dumb. And then I’m like, A Jeep has one called a gladiator. And you’re like, oh, that’s cool then. Right? ’cause you totally didn’t understand why somebody would turn, I don’t think u making the, the, those hands like, oh, I’m sorry, just the voice. Some kind of paralysis. Ah, sorry. Hoen. I just dunno what this is. I don’t like it. Alright, listen. I don’t like the Grenadine and I don’t have to, Ugh. It’s a truck. I know. I mean a truck version. That’s fine. You have to like it more. Alright. The whole thing that this show’s based on don don’t have to like it, it has a turbo.
Sean P. Holman (1h 31m 48s):
Straight six. No, I don’t have to, like every truck you work for a company with a godfather of turbos. I don’t have to like every fricking truck. But you like the cyber truck. I like it more than that one. That’s weird. I know. This isn’t even the Yeah. Anyway,
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 32m 2s):
It doesn’t mean that I like anything electric or it doesn’t, I like
Sean P. Holman (1h 32m 4s):
Everything.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 32m 5s):
It just means that I like that one kind
Sean P. Holman (1h 32m 7s):
Of anyway, whatever. By the way,
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 32m 10s):
Did you see the cyber truck that is under at king
Sean P. Holman (1h 32m 13s):
Suspension?
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 32m 14s):
Did you see the cyber truck? That’s
Sean P. Holman (1h 32m 16s):
King. No,
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 32m 17s):
I’m curious what they’re doing to it.
Sean P. Holman (1h 32m 19s):
I, I’m sure they’re doing something for the cliques like everybody else. Yeah. Going back to idio. So now they’re offering the idio grenadier quartermaster as a chassis cab so that you can put a tray bed on the back.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 32m 30s):
That’s cool ish. No, it’s,
Sean P. Holman (1h 32m 32s):
Look, it’s cool. Lemme see. It’s cool. Eh?
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 32m 38s):
It looks like, nah, it looks like you just put two mismatched Lego sets together.
Sean P. Holman (1h 32m 45s):
Okay. I’ll give you that.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 32m 46s):
Okay.
Sean P. Holman (1h 32m 48s):
Hey Lighting. Did you hear? No, the 2024 ish Chevy Silverado 1500. Those, it
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 32m 53s):
Is also in your driveway
Sean P. Holman (1h 32m 54s):
Though. Yeah. No, that’s in the garage. The ones that are equipped with the 2.7 liter turbo four cylinder. The 2.7 L three B are now going to be badged. What do you mean? They’re getting the turbo max badging on it. So you’ll be able to tell which trucks are four cylinders.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 33m 11s):
Well that’s unfortunate.
Sean P. Holman (1h 33m 13s):
Well, I I didn’t say it was great, just,
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 33m 16s):
I mean, who wants to show that off?
Sean P. Holman (1h 33m 18s):
People who like turbo fours.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 33m 23s):
I like fuel economy. I don don’t even know why you would show that off. That’s
Sean P. Holman (1h 33m 27s):
Interesting. That’s all’s all I got. Huh?
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 33m 29s):
I have a small wiener.
Sean P. Holman (1h 33m 32s):
Please make a, a drop of that. I will. You can have it if you, if you don’t I will. No, you can have it. That’s going to be my, I’ll make, that’s gonna be my, my phone ringtone. I for you. It’ll be, that’s fine. Then my wife will always know when Lightning’s calling. But
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 33m 47s):
You know our friend Bald Brad. Oh, bald Brad. So he was having a birthday party at Sharky’s and Hermosa Beach.
Sean P. Holman (1h 33m 53s):
Of course he was. Right. Okay.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 33m 54s):
This is, this is a few years ago. And his, his girlfriend at the time was ridiculously hot, so stupid smoking hot. She ran, I’m just, this is a tangent by the way. You know the girls in Vegas, You don. when You go to a club, You don say you go to a club and they’re like, girls that are way too hot for the guys that are in there. And you realize, oh, they’re paid to be here. Yeah, she ran one of those services. You could pay her and then she would hire the girls and then if she didn’t have enough girls, she would be one of those girls. So anyway, I made shirts for her, all of her friends and me and all of my friends. And it was a picture of Brad and I made a fake magazine cover and it said small penis magazines man of the year.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 34m 37s):
And it said, do pumps work. And it had a, it had a barcode and all this stuff and wow, it was awesome. And I also made him a hat and his hat said, ask me about my small penis. And that hat got him so much play for years afterwards he beat up the hat like, like you beat up yours. Like, like they just get like faded, faded. He said that hat got him so much action because girls thought it was so ridiculous that he would wear that out.
Sean P. Holman (1h 35m 5s):
I, I don’t even know where to go from here. Now you
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 35m 7s):
Talking about the, the the four
Sean P. Holman (1h 35m 9s):
Cylinder. All right, speaking of small wieners, the Ford Transit gets faster charging for 2024.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 35m 14s):
I haven’t heard No, no.
Sean P. Holman (1h 35m 16s):
A a Lightning have You Heard what?
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 35m 18s):
No, no, no.
Sean P. Holman (1h 35m 20s):
So apparently the American Council for an energy efficient economy,
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 35m 25s):
What they
Sean P. Holman (1h 35m 25s):
Berated, what? No, they berated,
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 35m 28s):
But they’re not real.
Sean P. Holman (1h 35m 29s):
The automotive market for, for 2024. And they created a meanest list of a dozen cars of the most gas guzzling. So basically they, they looked at it is a
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 35m 43s):
TRX on the
Sean P. Holman (1h 35m 44s):
Hold on top position. So apparently they assess more than 1200 models. So basically this is the, what they call the EIA data for the annual cost of driving 15,000 miles out of the, the dirty dozen. So they say the meanest are seven SUVs and three trucks. And there’s one EV that made the list.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 36m 5s):
Really.
Sean P. Holman (1h 36m 6s):
And just just so we’re clear, I have made this point before, and I’ll make it again, there’s a certain brand out there who came back and said, Hey, we got an ev.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 36m 16s):
Be, oh, the Hummer
Sean P. Holman (1h 36m 17s):
Being opulent and wasteful is cool because it’s just electricity. Yeah, the Hummer. Yeah. Most inefficient out of the, the EVs according to this list, so at, at number 12 was the Mercedes-Benz, my Bach S six 80 with a green score of 30, it costs $234,000 with an estimated annual fuel cost of 3030 $1. Next up Chevrolet Corvette zero six gas. Obviously all these are gas except for Hummer 30 green score. That’s 114,395 with a 31 69 annual fuel cost. Next up, the GMC Sierra green score of 29 MSRP of 37 700 3060 $9 for the estimated annual fuel cost.
Sean P. Holman (1h 37m 0s):
The GMC hummer EV SUV 29 on the green score, 98,845 with the estimated annual fuel cost. So just plugging in of $1,746. So still less, but I think they’re taking into account all the things that go into making that electricity. Then you got eight is the Mercedes-Benz G five 50, the Jeep Grand Wagoner four by four. My guess is that was probably the old 6.4 version, not the new hurricane version. Mm. Number six Jeep Wrangler. Four-door four by four gas. I’m guessing that was the one in my, in my garage.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 37m 34s):
3 92.
Sean P. Holman (1h 37m 35s):
3 92. That was a green score of 27. Although this is the, the MSRP was 35 8 95, which we know for sure is not the case. No.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 37m 43s):
9 2 30
Sean P. Holman (1h 37m 44s):
$200 a year in annual fuel cost. So what
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 37m 46s):
Was that Would’ve been a three six?
Sean P. Holman (1h 37m 48s):
Yeah, probably a three six. Yeah. Dodge Durango. SRT. So that’s a three ninety two thirty three hundred and thirty $2. A green score of 26 Cadillac Escalade v Ford F-150 Raptor R in third place with a green score of only 24 MSRP of 79 9 9 75. Which we know the Raptor R does not start at that. So I, I don’t know that these are actually car people. ’cause they’re, they’re getting, here’s my point, the Wrangler one at 27 was definitely a 3 9 2 and they’re, they have the base price of the lineup, not of that model. Got it. Same thing with the Raptor R 79 9 75. Obviously thats not the
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 38m 21s):
Case. Doesn’t make sense. No.
Sean P. Holman (1h 38m 22s):
37 77 estimated annual fuel cost coming in at number two Ram 1500 T RX four by four.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 38m 30s):
I got a winner. Yes. I’m in
Sean P. Holman (1h 38m 33s):
Second place green score of 22 compared to my 3 9 2 of a green score of 27. So I’m so much more fuel vision MSRP of 98 3 3 5 and a estimated annual fuel cost of $3,819. Yes. All right. Yes.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 38m 47s):
And by the way, that’s probably me ’cause I daily it, well when I have a window and I can drive it, number one number I’ve stolen you number one. Number one. All right. The number one least efficient truck or SUV on the road has to be,
Sean P. Holman (1h 39m 9s):
How about the Mercedes-Benz A MGG 63 with a green score of only 20 in an estimated annual fuel cost $4,242.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 39m 19s):
Oh my god. That’s awful.
Sean P. Holman (1h 39m 22s):
It’s GWA A MGG wagon. Man. I, you know what? I wonder what the fuel tank size is on that. It
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 39m 28s):
Can’t be more than 25 do you think?
Sean P. Holman (1h 39m 31s):
Alright, I’m gonna look here and because I’m curious ’cause my Wrangler is horrible in range. It’s like 200 miles in the
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 39m 37s):
City. Well you have like an 11 gallon tank in
Sean P. Holman (1h 39m 38s):
Yours. 21 and a half.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 39m 39s):
Okay.
Sean P. Holman (1h 39m 40s):
So I’m just curious with even worse fuel economy, what that is. So I think
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 39m 43s):
On my T Rx I’ve got like a 30 33. Yeah. Okay. So
Sean P. Holman (1h 39m 47s):
Mercedes G class 26.4. I wish I had 26.4 in the Wrangler. Huh? Huh?
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 39m 53s):
It’s a bigger truck.
Sean P. Holman (1h 39m 54s):
Not really. Yeah,
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 39m 55s):
It’s a little bigger.
Sean P. Holman (1h 39m 56s):
Not much.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 39m 57s):
Yeah. Have you seen those things? Like, dude,
Sean P. Holman (1h 39m 59s):
Have you seen the thing in my driveway? No, it’s
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 40m 1s):
Bigger. The Mercedes is bigger. It’s
Sean P. Holman (1h 40m 3s):
Probably not heavier. Yeah. Yeah.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 40m 5s):
And You know what’s cool about those Gs is that they do sound good. No, I they sound, I don’t think it’d be very, they don’t sound as good as yours, but pretty damn good. No,
Sean P. Holman (1h 40m 13s):
They sound pretty good. Do
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 40m 14s):
They sound $250,000? Good. don don’t, I don’t know. No.
Sean P. Holman (1h 40m 18s):
Alright. Hey Lightning, did you hear
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 40m 22s):
No Uhuh
Sean P. Holman (1h 40m 23s):
Py photographers have caught the 2025 Ford Maverick refresh out in the wild. And this one was interesting because it showed some new bits like hmm, more aggressive off-road tires. So could this be the 2024 Maverick tremor that we’ve heard about?
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 40m 44s):
Maybe?
Sean P. Holman (1h 40m 46s):
I think that’s probably Maverick. Pretty good guess Maverick
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 40m 48s):
Tremor. Hmm.
Sean P. Holman (1h 40m 51s):
So for you Maverick fans out there, stay tuned because cool stuff is coming to that platform. Hey Lighting, did you hear?
11 (1h 40m 58s):
No, and I don’t
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 41m 0s):
Care. No imm, no
Sean P. Holman (1h 41m 3s):
Rumor has it that the 2025 Ram heavy duty is going to be getting the ZF power line eight speed automatic. So finally dumping the 68 RFE for an eight speed, which makes a lot of sense. We’ve heard rumors of the ZF eight speed in the past and eight speed is basically what they use across all of their vehicles. So it would make sense to include that. And with the Cummins, that would be hell of a transmission because it would really help that engine out to have more gears. Yeah,
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 41m 32s):
But everyone loves the 68 RFE. They just, oh, it’s, it is adored in the ramp commute. Oh, it’s not,
Sean P. Holman (1h 41m 37s):
They hate it. Well check it out. The Eisen is not bad. I mean it shifts pretty hard but, so anyway, if they do adopt these Zed F power line eight speed, which is You know, probably pure speculation at this point. Here’s what’s interesting. That particular transmission made for commercial duty vehicles boast a capacity of 57,000 pounds.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 41m 58s):
Oh my gosh.
Sean P. Holman (1h 41m 59s):
So I, I think your, your gross vehicle weight of, what is it? Like You know 40 something Yeah. Going down the road should be fine. And then they over
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 42m 7s):
50,000 pounds.
Sean P. Holman (1h 42m 8s):
Yeah. So they make it for all sorts of stuff. Beverage trucks and distribution trucks, school buses, trash trucks, all that kind of stuff. And obviously Chrysler or Ram or Stellantis or whoever is their owner today has had a long relationship with ZF being across all the SRT stuff, including my, my Wrangler 3 92 and the
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 42m 28s):
TRX.
Sean P. Holman (1h 42m 29s):
So Yeah. And it says that the, the power line is able to easily handle more than a thousand pound feet of engine torques. So it sounds like that might be the, the right choice. So
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 42m 40s):
I wonder if they’re going to mate this with the new engine that’s not a Cummins.
Sean P. Holman (1h 42m 45s):
No, it’ll be a Cummins. You
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 42m 46s):
Think so? You’re just
Sean P. Holman (1h 42m 47s):
Spreading rumors at this point? I, I think, listen, I think that there’s probably people in a boardroom and, and being counters trying to figure out how to get away from Cummins. But the but it ain’t gonna happen that fast. No, they’re, they’re cus and it’s not gonna happen that fast. Their customers won’t allow it. The cool thing is half of that torque, 500 pound feet could go to a engine driven dual side power takeoff interface. Oh. Which means that, that would be huge for upfitters and dump beds and all that kind of stuff. Yeah. So lots, lots of stuff that you can do with the PTO. So I could definitely see Ram plugging in something like that into the Ram lineup. Hey Lighting have You Heard? No. Apparently Future electric vehicle manufacturer scout is aiming for the heartstrings.
Sean P. Holman (1h 43m 29s):
If you look up online, they have a new video series called Scout Back to Work and it talks about the heritage and history of Scout being before Bronco and Blazer and everybody else. So obviously Volkswagen is working to make a scout, I guess a relatable be reminding people of the historical roots and c You know banging the drum to get the interest up for their, their new brand. So yeah, it’ll be interesting to see what the response is gonna be. I I know there’s Do you think they’re gonna go after hardcore wheelers? Yes. Or women? I think that they are all about it being the best off-Road Electric SUV brand.
Sean P. Holman (1h 44m 13s):
Hmm. I mean that’s really what that vehicle was, was off-Road utility vehicle. And from all the things I I know a few people that work over there and it sounds, sounds promising. I’ll leave it at that. When will you get to Test Drive? It won’t be for a while. They’re not Oh really? They’re not that close. Okay. I think they’re just building the factory right now. In fact, I think in our news, not too long ago we talked about breaking ground at their, their new factory. So we will see, but I’m excited to see what they do. It’s fun that they are looking back in the roots of the name and trying to make that connection. Hey Lighting, did you hear I
12 (1h 44m 45s):
Said? no?
Sean P. Holman (1h 44m 47s):
Nope. If you go, you’re a YouTube guy, right? You, you love I YouTube consum the YouTube. I love YouTube. Yep. So have You Heard of Jerry rig everything. I’ve watched maybe 20 of his episodes. Yes. Okay. So he’s a YouTube phone durability tester and electric wheelchair builder. And he does a lot more than that. And what he is doing in his latest video is seeing what kind of rounds the cyber truck could actually stop. Okay. So he’s, he, he basically repeats testing of the nine millimeter rounds, which is what Elon said, You know, nine millimeter caliber, no big deal. And then he went to I guess 22, 2, 2 3 and then all the way up to 50 caliber rifle rounds.
Sean P. Holman (1h 45m 32s):
I’m embarrassed to say I didn’t see this episode to see basically where the limit is of the cyber truck. So for those of you who are both truck enthusiasts and gun enthusiasts, you might wanna head over to Jerry rig everything and figure out at which round size did the cyber truck become defeated.
13 (1h 45m 50s):
First thing we’ll be trying out is a Glock 19, it’s a nine millimeter handgun shooting full metal jackets, 115 grain. And I am gonna take five shots. Glock suck. See where that gets us. Sorry. Never shot a hundred thousand dollars truck before. But Elon says it’s bulletproof. That’s wild.
Sean P. Holman (1h 46m 15s):
He’s decided to destroy the driver’s side left door and he has done quite a good job of it. I, I would find out if the left door, I would figure out which door panel is available in crash replacement parts and then get it first and then shoot my truck. I That’s sure. Hope he has. Alright. Lighting, did you hear?
14 (1h 46m 35s):
No, no, no, no,
Sean P. Holman (1h 46m 36s):
No. I have not. All right. So this is the, the last one. But you said it to me and apparently Capital One, the people that do credit cards have a automotive blog called Finding the Right Car and
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 46m 51s):
The Yes, apparently they do. Yes.
Sean P. Holman (1h 46m 53s):
Most recent post by Bob Kanick on March 13th, 2024 is what Is Rolling Coal? What? Like,
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 47m 2s):
So
Sean P. Holman (1h 47m 2s):
What I was just click bait at this point, right?
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 47m 4s):
So I I got that call from Bob Plenty nice guy, sky I journalist, and he says, yeah, we’re we’re coming up with topics we think that will interest the automotive community. And he says, nobody
Sean P. Holman (1h 47m 15s):
Cares what Capital One has to say.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 47m 17s):
It’s a, so I, I think it’s, maybe this is a search engine optimization play as an SEO play, I guess, or to, I I it was nice.
Sean P. Holman (1h 47m 24s):
Quoted your boss. It was
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 47m 25s):
Great. And I set him up with Gail and I just, I sent it to you because I thought you would like the quotes about rolling coal. That’s why you have this in your inbox.
Sean P. Holman (1h 47m 33s):
Yeah. So rolling coal is wasting energy, said Gail Banks, it’s horsepower in the air. And he also says it’s like you’re making microscopic charcoal briquettes and you’re expelling them into my lungs.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 47m 46s):
Which,
Sean P. Holman (1h 47m 46s):
Which is funnier when You read it. ’cause I’ve had Gail say those exact talking points in person, but it’s not as funny as him saying it in writing apparently In print. Yes, in print. That was pretty funny. He goes on to say there’s nothing positive about rolling coal. It’s a social statement. Bank said it’s, Hey, look at me, I’m a bandit. I love Gail.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 48m 5s):
Wait tee, get to the end.
Sean P. Holman (1h 48m 7s):
Let’s see, on a Sunday morning, banks said a driver rolling coal comes up to a church lady with her window down and fills her car with smoking and laughs about it. Yeah, we all know that video. It’s, it’s not cool. Gail says, these guys are making tens of millions of dollars. The EPA is finding them like 500,000. He said, there’s so much money to be made with these chips. It’s insane. And he talks about it’s a point of pride that his record breaking diesel hot rods don’t spew out quote unquote toxic clouds of black smoke, which is what sets ’em apart from some of the other diesel tuning shops. And Gail goes on to say that he’s hated by those guys. It’s true. And then the the final quote, which, which is the best, by the way, I had somebody come up again to me recently and they, oh, you, you You know Gail.
Sean P. Holman (1h 48m 49s):
Yeah, yeah. Gail and I are friends. Oh man, that guy just doesn’t give a fuck. Just like, I’m like, Nope, nope. He’s at the point of his life. He’s just like, dude, lay ways to it all and cement my legacy. And I love that about him. But his final quote in this weird, weird article from Capital One is quote unquote, there’s a, that’s good. There’s a bell curve intelligent quotient. He said, if you’re rolling coal, you’re on the wrong side of the bell curve. Oh. Gotta love Gail. Even if you hate him, you gotta love him. I love him. Gail’s the best.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 49m 20s):
Alright, well if there’s a particular Gale Banks quote you’d like to remind us of, get us over with an email truck Show Podcast at gmail dot com or Lightning at truck Show Podcast dot com Or pull

Sean P. Holman (1h 50m 12s):

I like it though, because I like it that we impacted his day. He hates us so much. Like instead of just not listening and moving on with his day, he hated us so much. He had to write something about it. I’m like, all right, whatever. I’m in your head, son. Listen yo, I almost tried to find him on You know, see if his username on Apple was the same as like his Instagram and then just berated him. But I’m like, eh,
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 50m 42s):
No. Let it go. I rather be in here. I mean, listen, we are, look, we’re on purpose. We, we have a little schlock, right? Old school radio schlock. It’s on purpose. We realize that.
Sean P. Holman (1h 50m 50s):
No, it’s just how
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 50m 51s):
We are. No, but I mean, we grew up listening to radio. I like stupid jingles and come on,
Sean P. Holman (1h 50m 56s):
We wanted to replace your morning show with something fun about trucks. And so we figured this was a, a weird way to do it.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 51m 2s):
That’s well
Sean P. Holman (1h 51m 2s):
Said. Also, if you guys head over to truck Show Podcast dot com, be sure to check out our events tab. We’ve got a ton of events happening from all over the country. If you have an event, please email us truck Show Podcast at gmail dot com and we’d love more. Know your notes. We actually had a listener send us five. Oh wow. And we’ve got a couple other ones. Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 51m 21s):
That. Listener loves the fact that we suck at it. Oh,
Sean P. Holman (1h 51m 23s):
A hundred percent. And again, don’t listen to Lightning. If you have something weird that you want us to guess poorly on, send it on over.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 51m 31s):
Make a lawnmower, whatever don don’t care. A scooter, a minibike, all of it. Okay. All of it. We are gonna try to guess what engine it is and then what it’s in. So if you’ve got a,
Sean P. Holman (1h 51m 41s):
There’s no way, oh wait, hold on. Oh, actually there is a way. It’s way, it’s when somebody does it from the inside and you hear the stupid Ford, whatever
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 51m 50s):
Music you and I have, like we, we’ve, we’ve got, you can hear the, because of the, the keys jingling.
Sean P. Holman (1h 51m 55s):
What if somebody has, listen, if somebody has a freaking drag racing ride on lawnmower or something, we have no idea. There’s no way
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 52m 2s):
To know. Yeah. Well try us. We

Sean P. Holman (1h 52m 12s):
Answer in a separate email or separate message so that we don’t see it when we’re playing the first one.
Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 52m 18s):
You’re getting overly complicated.
Sean P. Holman (1h 52m 19s):

Jay “Lightning” Tilles (1h 52m 34s):
Podcast 35 hour episode. Holy
Sean P. Holman (1h 52m 36s):
Crap. Super stoked to have our friends, Theresa and Jason in studio, and I’m sure my neighbors we’re probably happy that we’ve got sound ending on all the walls in here. And we wanna thank Nissan for making the show happen despite us. Wow. Is that I don’t think so. I think Nissan does it because they know how awesome, incredible we are as as truck enthusiasts. Okay, that’s what I’m going with. Fine. I’ll back you up. All right. And if you’ve got a Jeep four liter 91 to 96 or 2000 2006 and you’ve got busted headers or headers that need a little bit of love, Banks Power just got a new shipment of their redesign header for those Jeep four liter engines. So head over to Banks Power dot com where you can check out the, the applications, see the new header, photos and, and details.
Sean P. Holman (1h 53m 18s):
But don’t buy it online. Slide into Lightnings dms at lbc Lightning. They talk to him first. They, and then buy it on online. Oh, then buy it online. Yeah. There you go. ’cause he’ll give you a little Cody code. Yeah. What’d you say? A Cody code. I’m gonna give him a Cody code. Are we still doing the show now? I thought I ended it? No. Oh, now, right now it’s over. Ready and done? Done, done. Ugh.
