OVR Issue 21: June-July 2026
The latest issue of OVR has arrived, bringing readers across remote desert crossings, international travel destinations, cutting-edge overland vehicles, and the gear built to support life on the trail.
OVR Issue 21 combines vehicle-based adventure, outdoor exploration, and practical equipment testing into another packed edition for overlanders, travelers, and enthusiasts alike.

One of the issue’s featured travel stories, Traversing the Devil’s Highway, follows a four-night journey across the legendary Camino del Diablo, one of the harshest and most historically significant desert routes in the American Southwest.
Elsewhere in the issue, La Pampas explores the often-overlooked landscapes and culture of Uruguay, while Wild Hot Springs of the World searches for naturally heated waters across remote corners of the globe.
Vehicle features in this issue range from highly specialized overland rigs to the latest factory-backed off-road machinery. Flight 550 highlights a Rubicon-ready build created by an airline pilot whose off-road ambitions stretch well beyond the runway.
No Compromise examines how 74Weld portal axles improve ground clearance while preserving suspension geometry and drivability. Meanwhile, The Art of Balance puts the Land Rover Defender OCTA through 370 miles of highway and desert terrain in a first-drive evaluation.

Additional vehicle and technology coverage includes a hands-on review of the Cardo Packtalk Edge off-road communication system, a closer look at the evolution of a long-term overland build, and an early preview of the 2026 Easter Jeep Safari concepts.
Issue 21 also places a strong focus on camp life and equipment. Wood, Canvas, and Time takes a closer look at Kermit’s handcrafted chairs and tables built for years of dependable outdoor use, while Night Sabers tests KC’s versatile Camping Light TRIO lighting system.
Readers will also find practical organization advice in Storage Solutions, covering modular bins, tubs, and storage systems for life both on and off the trail.
The issue’s dedicated Trailstead section explores mobile basecamp living in all forms. The Overnight Experience spends a month with the Outside Van Overnight across California desert terrain, while Going the Distance showcases a Ford Super Duty F-350 designed for extended travel and self-supported exploration.

Scaler enthusiasts will also find a dedicated section featuring RC-based adventure and trail culture. Discovery of Adventure revisits Camel Trophy history through the 1/10-scale FMS Land Rover Discovery, while Small Scale, Big Lessons explores how RC trail driving can help teach real-world off-road skills and outdoor awareness.
As always, OVR Issue 21 also includes the latest adventure gear, camp equipment, vehicle upgrades, outdoor apparel, and destination highlights through recurring departments like Outdoor Supply, At The Campsite, Off Road Outfitter, Onboard Utility, and Start Here.
OVR Issue 21 is available now through select retailers and bookstores.
