With the acquisition of Dakota Lithium, Dragonfly Energy now operates two complementary lithium battery brands — giving vehicle-based adventurers more formats, capacities, and price points to choose from when building out their power systems.

Dragonfly Energy Adds Dakota Lithium to Its Battery Brand Portfolio

Dragonfly Energy has completed the acquisition of substantially all operating assets associated with Dakota Lithium, adding the specialty lithium battery brand to its existing product portfolio, living distinctly alongside the Company’s existing Battle Born Batteries brand.

The acquisition expands Dragonfly Energy’s reach across marine, outdoor recreation, RV, powersports, golf cart and other specialty battery markets. It also gives the company a broader range of products to offer customers with different power needs, installation requirements and budgets.

Dakota Lithium’s lineup includes deep-cycle and dual-purpose batteries, higher-energy-density options, smaller-format starting and powersports batteries, chargers and portable power stations. Those products support a wide variety of mobile and off-grid applications, including overland vehicles, camper vans, towable RVs, boats and recreational equipment.

For overlanders and RV owners, the addition creates more options when selecting batteries based on available space, desired capacity, weight, starting capability and overall system configuration. Customers may need a compact battery for a smaller vehicle or accessory system, while larger builds may require enough stored energy to operate refrigeration, lighting, communications equipment and other onboard electronics away from shore power.

“Dakota Lithium has established a recognized position across marine, outdoor recreation and other specialty applications,” said Wade Seaburg, chief commercial officer of Dragonfly Energy. “We see a meaningful opportunity to build on that foundation by supporting product availability, expanding distribution and introducing more customers to the Dakota Lithium brand.”

Dragonfly Energy said one of its immediate priorities is replenishing Dakota Lithium inventory. Product availability had been limited by inventory and working-capital constraints before the acquisition, and the company expects availability to improve over the coming months.

The company also plans to work with Dakota Lithium’s existing distributors, dealers and customers as it restores inventory and finalizes future customer-support and commercial programs.

The move gives Dragonfly Energy two established battery brands serving overlapping but complementary customer groups. Battle Born Batteries will remain positioned as the company’s premium battery and power-system brand, while Dakota Lithium will provide a wider selection of formats and applications across the outdoor recreation and specialty battery markets.

Additional updates are expected as the integration progresses.
