OVR’s first RC collaboration with FMS delivers a limited-edition 1/10-scale Land Cruiser 80 Series crawler that blends authentic design, licensed components, and genuine trail-ready capability for both beginners and experienced enthusiasts. The FCX10 OVR LC80 RS isn’t just a collectible—it’s a hobby-grade machine built to recreate the spirit of off-road adventure anywhere you can find terrain.

When we talk about recreating in the outdoors at OVR, we mean it in the broadest sense. That includes scale RC crawling—operating hobby-grade radio control trucks that mirror the capability and spirit of full-size off-road vehicles.

For us, outdoor recreation can mean driving a full-size rig deep into the backcountry, heading out on foot for a long hike, rolling out on a bike, or simply slowing things down and enjoying time outside wherever we can.

We also love our toys—and in this case, those “toys” happen to be scale radio-control crawlers that look authentic, feel purposeful, and are capable enough to mirror the spirit of real four-wheel-drive travel.

While we call it a toy for simplicity, make no mistake, this is a hobby-grade RC truck with genuine mechanical sophistication, not a child’s plaything.

That mindset is exactly what led to OVR’s first scale RC truck collaboration with FMS. Known for its commitment to scale accuracy and trail-ready performance, FMS was a natural partner to bring our first RC project to life. The result is the FMS FCX10 OVR LC80 RS, also referred to simply as the FCX10 OVR LC80.

It’s a 1/10-scale replica that blends realistic design, licensed components, and genuinely capable crawling performance into a package that welcomes both experienced RC enthusiasts and those completely new to the hobby.

This limited-edition collaboration is produced in small numbers and destined to be collectible—but that’s no reason to keep it on the shelf instead of on the trail.

Why the Toyota Land Cruiser 80 Series?

At the heart of this project is one of the most respected names in off-road history: the Toyota Land Cruiser 80 Series. Introduced in 1990, the 80 Series marked a turning point for the Land Cruiser lineage, combining serious off-road capability with everyday usability.

Full-time four-wheel drive, coil-spring suspension, available locking differentials, and legendary inline-six durability made it a global benchmark for expedition travel. Decades later, it’s still admired for its balance of toughness and refinement, qualities that translate surprisingly well into the RC world.

Although our own full-size OVR project vehicle is a 100 Series Land Cruiser, we weren’t about to pass up the opportunity to recreate its look and spirit in scale form.

The FCX10 OVR LC80 wears the same color and graphic scheme as our OVR LC100 project vehicle, giving longtime readers an immediate visual connection. And in a twist that RC and full-scale enthusiasts alike can appreciate, the 80 Series foundation actually brings added authenticity thanks to its solid-axle suspension, just like the real thing.

Built for Technical Terrain: FCX10 Crawler Features

What truly sets this model apart, however, is how far the realism goes beyond appearances. For readers new to RC crawling, it’s important to understand that scale models like the FCX10 aren’t about high speed or racing.

They’re about control, precision, and the satisfaction of navigating terrain slowly and deliberately, much like technical off-road driving in a full-size rig. Rocks, roots, dirt mounds, and uneven ground become obstacles to solve rather than something to blast through. RC rock crawler performance closely mirrors full-scale truck capability.

Two-Speed Transmission and Drivetrain

The hobby-grade RC truck delivers that experience with features you might not expect in a scale model. Its 1/10 scale crawler features include a two-speed transmission that lets you switch between a low-range crawl mode for technical terrain and a higher gear for trail cruising.

Suspension and Articulation

Locked differentials provide extra traction when the going gets tough, while solid axles front and rear ensure predictable articulation. Add in full-time four-wheel drive, oil-filled metal shocks, and a full ball-bearing drivetrain, and you get a scale off-road vehicle that feels purposeful and planted on the trail.

Licensed Components Elevate Scale Authenticity

OVR worked closely with FMS to push realism of this hobby-grade RC even further through officially licensed components, many of them firsts for the FMS brand.

HDR Wheels and Toyo Tires

The FCX10 OVR LC80 rolls on licensed HDR bead lock-style wheels wrapped in Toyo Tires Open Country A/T III rubber, delivering a scale-correct stance and tread pattern that looks right whether you’re crawling over rocks or parked at camp.

KC HiLites Lighting System

Licensed KC HiLites lighting adds another layer of authenticity, with vintage- and modern-style lamp options included for customization. Additional KC light covers are included with the kit for further customization.

OVR Edition Sticker Sheet

The included OVR sticker sheet lets you make it your own, with licensed logos from our partners ready to be applied. It’s a small detail that goes a long way in bringing full-size build vibes to a 1/10-scale rig.

Magnetic Lighting & Body Mounting

Lighting, in fact, is a standout feature. The full-function LED system includes headlights, turn signals, and reverse lights that activate automatically when the body connects to the chassis via FMS’s patented magnetic mounting system.

That same system allows for quick, tool-free body removal, making battery changes and trail-side adjustments simple, even for newcomers.

Power comes from a smooth brushless system that prioritizes control over outright speed, delivering realistic throttle response and enough torque to tackle steep climbs. Inside, a detailed interior with molded dash elements and a scale driver figure reinforces the sense that this is more than just a toy—it’s a miniature 4x4.

Limited-Edition Collectable Collab

As a limited-edition, first-run collab, the FCX10 OVR LC80 checks all the boxes for collectibility. It’s the first of its kind from OVR and FMS, backed by licensed details and a direct link to our full-size build—exactly the kind of piece that ends up displayed on a shelf… at least until the trail calls.

Where and How to Enjoy Scale RC Crawling

Whether you’re looking for your first hobby-grade crawler or adding to an existing collection, one of the most appealing aspects of trail-ready RC crawling is where it can be enjoyed. You don’t need a dedicated course or special facility.

A backyard, a local park, a campsite, or a stretch of trail near your rig can all become a scale adventure. It’s an activity that complements outdoor recreation rather than replacing it, encouraging creativity and exploration at a slower pace.

For OVR, the FCX10 OVR LC80 scale Toyota Land Cruiser RC truck represents a natural extension of what we already love about vehicle-based adventure. It’s about realism, capability, and having fun outdoors, just scaled down. This trail-ready radio control crawler looks the part, performs well on technical terrain, offers infinite customization, and welcomes enthusiasts of all experience levels.

And for readers curious about RC crawling, it’s an accessible, engaging way to recreate the spirit of off-road travel almost anywhere. The FMS FCX10 OVR Land Cruiser 80 Series delivers hobby-grade RC crawler performance in a limited-edition package built for scale off-road adventures.
