Mountain Hatch, maker of the Original Patented Food-Grade Tailgate Platform, is returning to its Southern California roots through a new partnership with Riverside-based Atlas Offroad Co. — bringing expanded vehicle coverage, new product development, and a bigger presence across the off-road and overland community.
Mountain Hatch Joins Forces With Atlas Offroad, Returns Home To Southern California
Two Southern California brands unite around a shared passion for trucks, adventure, American-made products, and the off-road community.
Mountain Hatch, creator of the Original Patented Food-Grade Tailgate Platform, is officially back in California and joining forces with Riverside-based Atlas Offroad Co. for the next chapter of the brand.
Mountain Hatch will now be housed and operated from Atlas Offroad’s Southern California facility, bringing together two brands with a shared passion for trucks, outdoor adventure, product innovation, and the communities that surround them.
Founded in Southern California, Mountain Hatch began with a simple idea: transform a truck’s factory tailgate into a durable, flat, food-safe work surface that could be used at camp, on the trail, at the jobsite, or anywhere adventure leads. Since launching its original tailgate platform, the brand has grown to support a wide range of trucks and SUVs while remaining committed to American-made products and its “Find Your Mountain” philosophy.
“Bringing Mountain Hatch back to California feels like bringing the brand home,” said Nick Psomas, Founder of Atlas Offroad. “Mountain Hatch has an authentic story, a great product, and a loyal community behind it. We see a tremendous opportunity to build on that foundation while introducing new products, expanding applications, and getting the brand in front of even more people.”
Atlas Offroad is a full-service off-road shop and online retailer specializing in premium aftermarket parts, professional installation, and purpose-built trucks and SUVs. The partnership gives Mountain Hatch access to Atlas Offroad’s e-commerce, marketing, product development, industry relationships, vehicle access, and physical operations in Riverside.
Under the new partnership, customers can expect continued production of the Mountain Hatch products they know, along with expanded vehicle applications, new product development, increased industry collaboration, and a stronger presence at off-road, overland, camping, hunting, and outdoor events.
The partnership also creates opportunities for Mountain Hatch products to be developed and tested alongside real-world vehicle builds at Atlas Offroad, helping both brands better serve customers who use their vehicles for everything from weekend camping trips to extended off-grid adventures.
Despite the move and expansion, the core principles behind Mountain Hatch remain unchanged. Products will continue to emphasize durability, functionality, American manufacturing, and making it easier for people to get outside and use their vehicles.
“This isn’t about changing what Mountain Hatch is,” Psomas added. “It’s about giving the brand the resources and platform to become everything we believe it can be.”
Mountain Hatch and Atlas Offroad will begin rolling out new products, vehicle applications, events, collaborations, and additional announcements throughout the coming months.
Same Mountain Hatch. Back in California. Bigger things ahead.
