Overland Expo West is the grandaddy of U.S. overland shows. First started in 2009, the event brings in attendees, vendors, media, and vehicles from all over the globe.

Speaking of vehicles, if you’re into overlanding rigs, this is the best place in North America to see them. Large and small, basic to ultra-luxurious, and in every shape imaginable, anything with wheels is a huge part of this show. I went around and photographed my faves.

Without further ado, here are some of my top overlanding vehicles from Overland Expo West 2025.

6x6

Sometimes rigs in the camping area are as amazing as those in the show. This was the case with this big six-wheeled 2002 International HV607.

Donning Minnesota plates, this big blue beast had some serious size, an 8.9-liter Cummins L9 engine, and legit overland equipment.

AT-Overland-Ram

Prescott, AZ-based AT Overland Equipment, is a well-known producer of overland truck campers. This big Ram 3500 wears the company’s Alterra XLF camper, which is designed for flatbeds.

The large storage box in front of the camper offers loads of cargo carrying ability, while the camper itself offers an exceptionally well-appointed living space. The knobby Super Swamper tires look gnarly.

BajaDesigns-F250

Speaking of full-size rigs, this 2023 Ford F250, belonging to Sage Carli, was in the Baja Designs booth.

This truck wore Toyo Open Country tires, a Carli suspension with King shocks, a Bowen Customs bed, a Go Fast Camper topper, and plenty of Baja Designs lights to light up the trail.

Big-Lexus

This big black-and-white Lexus GX550 is awesome. It’s got a ton of parts to make it more capable, including items from Wescott Designs, King Shocks, Victory 4x4, and Rigid Lights. Oh, and it’s on 74Weld Motorsports portal axles!

This sophisticated brute rolls on huge 38” Nitto Trail Grappler M/T tires wrapped around Method wheels. Is this the ultimate GX550 build?

Brimont-Brutt

Overland Expo shows have a wide array of automotive diversity. Case in point, this Brimont Brutt. Brimont is a French company which originally produced this vehicle for military use. This version, belonging to Land Roamer, has been all over the world.

It has a Peugeot diesel engine and a ZF 5-speed manual transmission, and of course it’s 4WD. The owner, Berbard Salzmann, a Swiss national, has been traveling for years in the rig.

Chevrolet-Silverado

This blacked-out Chevy Silverado looked great and was in the HP Tuners booth. The pickup wears Nitto Recon Grappler A/T tires and Methods, and had parts from a variety of premium companies included Fox, FiberwerX, Dirt King Fabrication, and more. Those flared fenders look fantastic.

Cybertruck

Love or hate them, the Tesla Cybertruck is unique. This rig was camped in the media area, just down from our Mitsubishi Delica van.

It’s got a tent setup off the back and rolls on custom gold Fuel wheels and 35x12.50R20 Nitto Ridge Grapplers.

Euphoria--Sprinter

This Nomad Euphoria highlights a trend of using Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 3500 chassis and adding a custom box on the back.

This version rolled on Reika Rambler wheels wrapped with BFGoodrich all-terrains, and had a 12,000 lb. winch and winch bumper, as well as all sorts of excellent creature comforts inside the box. That’s a good-looking setup!

Foundation-Vehicles-Sprinter

Colorado-based van builder, Foundation Vehicles, had just sold this Sprinter, complete with an empty Globe Trekker box on the back, to luxury van outfitter, @van_damme_conversions. The van was a blank canvas for Van Damme Conversions to create someone’s dream travel van.

FOX-INEOS

The INEOS Grenadier has become an excellent platform for overlanding, and the aftermarket is taking note. Fox took this Grenadier and added its 2.5 Performance Elite Series shocks and steering stabilizer, as well as retro-style graphics.

This Euro rig rolls on Agile Offroad wheels and 285/75/17 BFGoodrich KO3 all-terrains. This is definitely a great mix of retro and modern.

Fred-Williams-Wagoneer

Off-road icon, Fred Williams, brought his 1971 Jeep Wagoneer, which resided in the WARN/Factor 55 booth.

This old-school rig has a 360 cubic-inch V8, a classic WARN M8274 winch, old-school wheels/tires, but new Dirt Logic shocks. This thing oozes character.

GXV

When it comes to big overland vehicles the Storyteller GXV Epic is pretty, well, epic. Billed as the ultimate overlanding expedition vehicle, this behemoth can have up to 1,800 miles of range with two 100-gallon tanks. The 50:1 crawl ratio allows it to navigate bad roads with ease.

There are 1,980W rated solar panels and an 18-kWh power system, and the list goes on and on. The price? An epic $799,784.

INEOS-Grenadier

Another great Grenadier was found in the Nomad Wheels booth. Rolling on Mickey Thompson Baja Boss tires and the Nomad’s Sahara wheels, this SUV had an Alu-Cab roof setup, King Shocks, and other accoutrements ready to take you on an adventure.

International-Travelall

I ran across this rig in the camping area and had to take a pic. This ’72 International looked great, especially in that pale yellow.

It rolls on Nitto Trail Grappler M/Ts and Raceline Rockcrusher wheels. We could see Fox shocks, WFO Concepts suspension, and custom driveline parts. While we didn’t find the owner, it was definitely worth a pic.

Kalaber-URAL

Kalaber Creations has created a name for itself with its custom URAL motorcycles. From bespoke headlight bezels and Amish-made leather straps, to unique paint schemes and armor, these sidecar-equipped bikes look great—and this one was a standout.

It also was equipped with TYRI lights, a WARN VRX winch, and extra storage. It can even carry up to three people!

Light-Blue-Scout

This International Scout was tucked behind a vendor booth, but it looked so good! The custom bumper had Nacho LED lights, and it rolled on Nomad Convoy wheels shod with General Grabber tires. Was it perfect? No. Was it fantastic? In every way possible.

Maxxis-GX

The Lexus GX550 continues to be a popular customization platform for overlanding, and this Maxxis Tire version looked great.

Sitting on big 37” RAZR AT tires and Methods, and equipped with Fox Performance Elite suspension and Eibach rear coils made it trail-ready. This rig was built by Bink Designs.

Patty-Upton-Sandship-Discovery-2

Patty Upton and her late husband, Loren, are legends. They traveled the world in a 1966 Jeep CJ-5 called the Sand Ship Discovery and set a 1992 Guiness Book of World Records crossing of the Darién Gap by land.

Fast-forward to 2025, and Patty is running this year’s Rebelle Rally in this AEV-built Jeep, the Sand Ship Discovery 2. This modern rig wears the same livery as her and Loren’s old CJ-5!

Power-Wagon

This custom 1941 Dodge Power Wagon from Adrenalin Industries was one of the first vehicles I saw at this year’s Overland Expo West, and it stopped me in my tracks.

Featuring an inline-six engine, four-speed manual, four-wheel drive, bespoke interior, and a gorgeous custom wood canopy, this Power Wagon was a true standout.

Scout-Inspired-Overland

If you’re looking for a rig with cool patina, look no further than Travis Stewart’s International Scout. This two-door had a WARN M8274 winch, LED headlamps, Inspired Overland rooftop tent, Front Runner Outfitters roof rack, and much more. An oldie and goodie.

Sunroamer-Overland

Bradley Enlow, aka, @sunroameroverland, brought his 1982 Toyota Sunrader to Expo West, and it was in the DIY area.

This is another vintage rig with loads of character. Bradley started living in the rig in 2021 and he says its “been an adventure of life lessons and learning to live minimally.”

Teal-Land-Cruiser

Another outstanding Land Cruiser was this terrific turbocharged teal Toyota in the Perry Parts booth. This 2024 LC250 was on 74Weld portal axles with Icon suspension, custom fifteen52 wheels with beadlocks, and 40” Nitto Trail Grappler tires.

Other goodies include a Comeup winch, Rigid lights, Cruiser Mafia parts, and more. Feel the teal!

Toyo-G-Wagen

A Mercedes-Benz G-Wagen is a modern classic, although rarely used offroad, despite its tremendous ability.

This white SUV was in the Toyo Tires booth and included a Front Runner rack, Baja Designs lights, King shocks, and more. Clean and classy!

Wescot-Designs-4Runner

This new 4Runner by Wescott Designs was a super-clean build. Parts included a custom carbon-fiber hood, Method wheels with 35x12.50R17 Toyo Open Country A/T tires, Rigid lights, and a variety of Wescott Designs products, including rock sliders.

Xterra

The Xterra may be one of the more underrated off-road platforms out there, but this one from @cnheck_offroad certainly was ready for just about anything. The 38” Nitto Trail Grappler M/Ts were on All Terrain Industries wheels.

Other bits from Hefty Fabworks, Baja Designs, and more, made this one nice Nissan. PS: It has a Nissan VK V8 from a Titan!
