ICECO Launches All-New VL45 PLUS, An Industry-First 3-Way Access Portable Freezer
As vehicle storage and mounting systems continue to evolve, from custom DIY drawers to fully-integrated systems from the leading industry brands such as Goose Gear, accessibility and ease of use have become the forefront of functionality within the market.
Those same trends have made their way to the portable cooler segment, and the off-road and overlanding community are here to benefit in a major way.
Three-Way Access Design Solves Storage Accessibility
Recognizing the need for a fresh approach to a form factor we’ve all come to rely on, ICECO has launched the industry-first VL45 PLUS, a portable freezer featuring an innovative three-way access design.
The company recently made the announcement via their website and on Kickstarter, where supporters can currently join the waitlist ahead of the official release and pricing announcement.
The all-new VL45 PLUS was built with intention, to meet the demands of the overlanding and off-road community.
By incorporating additional side access into the new design, the 12V fridge allows easier access to food and drink, especially in vehicle setups where space is limited and you would traditionally have to unload your gear stacked on top just to reach inside your portable fridge freezer.
The side drawer and pull-out basket, paired with the dual-opening top lid, give real-world usability to a form factor we’ve grown accustomed to within our loadouts. This single-zone cooler features a 42-liter interior capacity, offering ample space to store food and drink for multi-day excursions.
Temperature Control Options
The VL45 PLUS has a 0~50-degree Fahrenheit temperature control and features three ways to manage your cooling setup:
- Adjust settings directly from the onboard control panel
- Monitor temperatures through Bluetooth app, available for both iOS and Android devices
- Control the cooler using Apple Carplay
It features vacuum insulated panels technology, aimed to reduce temperature loss while improving cooling efficiency. The 2.8-inch thick insulation layers allow for easier temperature regulation, keeping cold air inside the cooler and reducing excess power consumption.
The new portable fridge/freezer is compatible with the brand’s magnetic snap-on lithium-ion battery that boasts a 250WH capacity.
At just 3.7lbs, the portable battery is capable of changing its voltage with the consumption of electricity from the main source and can double as an external battery charger for additional devices such as a phone, laptop, or camera.
Mounting Options
A metal mounting system and integrated tie-down points have been incorporated into the cooler’s design, giving users multiple options for securely mounting and transporting the unit both in on- and off-road scenarios.
Premium materials have also been thoughtfully incorporated throughout the all-metal construction, including reinforced corners to survive the demands of off-road adventures and unpredictable weather.
